Mary Crowley, daughter of Samuel Crowley and Elizabeth Strong, was born about 1765 in Halifax County, Virginia and died shortly after 1840 at the home of her son Benjamin Kimsey in Platte County, Missouri.
Around 1782, at the age of seventeen, Mary Crowley married in Henry County Virginia to JAMES Kimsey on Rockcastle Creek, the place where both families lived at the confluence of Smith River. This section became Patrick County in 1791. During this time period, men married later in life to young girls. A record of their marriage has not been found as many of the Henry County records were destroyed years ago. Marriages were normally performed in the abode of the bride.
James was born about 1756 in Augusta County, Virginia, the son of Benjamin Kimsey (I) and Margaret Gregg. James died after the 2nd of August 1799 and before 28 September 1801 in Jackson County, Georgia. His brother David Kimsey/Kimzey was the administrator.
