My gg-grandmother was Elizabeth Crombie, born about 1852 probably in Drumballyroney Co. Down (as that is where her parents married in 1846). She had a brother Thomas born about 1846. Parents were James Crombie and Margaret McCulloch, and in turn James was the son of James Crombie and Sarah McCreadie.

In 1873 Elizabeth Crombie married Thomas Carson in Rathfriland, Ballygorry, Co Down but by November of that year were in Dundonald, Irvine Ayr, Scotland where they raised their 16 children, but only 6 Carson/Crombie children made it into adulthood.

Brother Thomas Crombie, following his marriage in Rathfriland to Mary Jane Gibson in 1870, also came to Scotland in about 1878 with his young family which swelled to 8 children in total. Their names were Samuel, Essie Jane, Margaret, James, John, (all born Co Down, Ireland) Thomas, Joseph and Robert (born in Irvine, Ayr). I have managed to trace some of these children.
