Surnames: Crook, Greer, Bollzoney
Greetings, cousins.
Good news for Shelby Co., TN Crooks!
Today I got a copy of John W. Crook's Certificate of Death.
b. 17 October 1902, Eads, Shelby Co., TN
d. 29 June 1952, St. Joseph's Hospital, Memphis, Shelby Co, TN
buried 1 July 1952 in (historic) Elwood Cemetery, Memphis, Shelby Co., TN [ South Grove 3, # 37 ]
Father: William A. Crook
Mother: Annie Vollzoney
Informant: Mrs, Annie Crook
This matches nicely with the data I've seen on William A. Crook in Eads, so that I think we can say John Will is the Johnie on his census records. William & Annie are buried in Seward Cemetery, Eads, Shelby Co, TN. I don't yet have a date of death for her - only the year (1976). Also, I've seen some descrepency on her last name: Bolzoni and now Vollzoney - obviously phonetically similar.
Someone is working on Bolzoni's, but is still making they way through Northern Italy. Sigh.
Should I trust the spelling on her son's CoD, given that she was the informant, or chalk that up to a poor transcription?
