Hi Carroll,

I know how you feel about not meeting many Crooms. Your father would not have had the same experience in Eastern NC. Croom is a common name there. They all descended from 3 brothers who moved to NC from VA in the 1700's. My grandfather was from a small community called Sandy Bottom near Kinston. As far as I know there is still a huge family reunion there in August every year. My father only took me once when I was in high school. He went every year as a boy. My grandfather moved to the Raleigh area as a young man. The only other Crooms besides my dad and his siblings were some of my grandfather's siblings and their offspring who lived in the area. I now live in Asheville, NC and there is one other family in the area. If you will do an internet search using Croom family genealogy you will be able to locate the Croom family website. There is a wealth of information there. I am sure you will be able to find all the information about your father's family there if he is from NC. If you have any
other question please let me know.
