Stephen: It is so nice to hear from you! Your father and I would be 2nd cousins. I was born in 1947 in Glasgow. My grandparents were from Aberdeen. Your great grandfather Robert Cruickshank was my grandmother's brother, Edith Cruickshank born 1898, quite a span in ages. My Dad is still alive almost 91 and was really hoping I would be able to tell him more about the Cruickshank family, I have been looking. Are you in England? I am in California, but coming to Scotland/England in August. I have a pic of Donny, and a family photo of Robert and Edith with all their children including your grandfather John. My email is tobrechin@aol.com if you would like to be in touch. I have a lot of cousins still across the water. Cheers, Caroline

Hi, I have information about the descendants of William Cruickshank (son of John C and Jean Wilson, grandson of Alexander C and Martha Mary Brown) and Jane Watt of Turriff/Monquhitter. Of their three sons who married Pirie sisters, two Cruickshank/Pirie couples emigrated to Australia, one did not, according to the family history I have from a descendant. A couple of other sons also emigrated. I am a descendant of Alexander and Martha's youngest son William, born 1798, whose sons emigrated to NZ, as mentioned in the first message in this thread. Please message me directly and we can compare notes/information.
Jo in Melbourne.

CRUICKSHANK/CARMICHAEL/BUCHANNAN/BROOKFIELD - URAQUAY CONNECTION IN MID 1800'S

I am reposting this information.
I have found that my Cruickshanks were in Uraguay in the mid 1800's for a period of time where my great grandmother Janet Whyte Cruickshank married in 1868. However, she did not marry the father of her first born, Catherine. He was a Buchannan. She married Samuel Brookfield. They stayed in South America for another three years where their second daughter Grace was also born.
They left there and moved to Liverpool, England where most of Samuel Brookfields family originates.

Janet Whyte Cruickshanks parents were ALEXANDER CRUICKSHANKS AND CATHERINE CARMICHAEL...who were both born about 1820, New Duffas, Morayshire, Scotland and married Nov. 1 1840..in Glasgow.
Janet was born June 22, 1843 in the Gorbals, Glasgow
and her older sister:
Christina Cruickshanks was born June 27,1841 in Glasgow.
Other siblings not known as yet.
ALL HAPPILY GROWING OLD TOGETHER
Blair couple, Wed 68 years, Drive behind 31 year-old horse in 30 year-old buggy as they Visit Friends
Almost every day, travelling the streets of Blair, Neb., can be seen an old horse drawing an old-fashioned buggy, in which a white-haired old couple ride about visiting their friends.
The buggy riders are Mr. and Mrs. James A. Cruickshank, aged 93 and 90, respectively, who celebrated their sixty-eighth wedding anniversary March 19. They are natives of Scotland, whence they came sixty years ago and settled on a farm three miles from Blair. Five years ago, they retired and moved to town.
Their horse is 31 years old and has been with them all his life. Their buggy was made to order in 1890 by the Drummond Carriage Co. of Omaha.
Mr. and Mrs. Cruickshank live in a ten-room house, which the wife superintends, besides caring for her flower garden. The husband cares for his horse and garden, and the yard.
Both are great readers, and are greatly interested in politics and current world events. Mr. Cruickshank, besides his newspapers and magazines, reads novels for recreation. Neither has known serious sickness.
Twelve of their fourteen children are living. One daughter lives in Blair, and two sons, James and Andrew, in Florence. Most of the others are in Montana.

Evening World-Herald: Omaha, Friday, April 17, 1925
Has photo of couple in buggy with their horse
NO relation!
Hello Maggie... I am a relative of yours, please do get in touch if you are still around. James Sellar Cruickshank had brothers who went to USA and Australia, and a generation further back, his mother is the sister of my great great grandmother. I can help you with the family tree if you want it.

Searching for family members for CRUICKSHANK, Charles John. He had four daughters to Gwenda Joy Booth. I am Karen his youngest daughter, my sisters names are Leanne, Wendy and Gail. Although some of my sisters are not interested in finding any information, I am curious to know if there are any other relatives out there. Charlie had two Sisters Valerie and Hazel. Charlie remarried to Sandra. Charlie died in 1989 and is buried at East Geelong Cemetry, Victoria, Australia. I would like to get in touch with any relatives that may be out there.
Sadly when Charlie passed away his family did not want anything to do with my sisters and I because we reminded them too much of Charlie. Well if any of you are out there please get in touch with me. My 11 year old son is curious about his mothers family. He knows all about his dads family as we see them quite frequently.

Please email me on falconcobra388@bigpond.com.

Thanks
Karen
Hello,

Thank you for the information. William H. Brown is my maternal g/g/grandfather. His son George had 3 sons and one daughter, Mary Ann.

Mary Ann had one child, Dolores, my mother.

So, we are distant cousins.

William H. left Marysburgh around 1890 and moved to Emerson, MB. I think he died there, or possibly Wenatchee, WA. George and his brother Edward, and their mother Mary Ann Ovens Brown ended up in Fort Bragg, CA, which is where I was born. They had another brother, James, who stayed in Emerson, MB.

Are you able to view my tree? I have posted some pictures there you might be interested in. Here's a link that might work: http://trees.ancestry.com/tree/1420103/family?fpid=#pedigree...

Are you in Canada?

Sgt Major Cruickshank was stationed in Ireland in the late 1890's (70th Reg I think) He died around 1939.
His widow and one married daughter were living in Plymouth, and were killed in an air-raid.
Another daughter married Walter B Dawson and lived to the 1960's
I would like information regarding both Mr Cruickshank, who I'm told came from Scotland, and his wife, who was Irish.
Hi there.
I have a Thomas Clark Cruickshank in my family line but have come to a dead end. He was born in Edinburgh and only his mother Isabella Cruickshank was mentioned on his birth certificate. He came to Australia around the age of 19 yrs i believe. He never spoke of his life in Scotland as far as i have been told by the relatives. He married Harriet Bailey in 1916 Australia and remarried Maggie Grimwood. I am really hoping that you have a Thomas Clark in your tree that came to Australia. Look forward to hearing from you.
