Fred E. Crump Sr., 85, of Fountain Inn, passed away on Sunday, October 11, 2009.

He was the husband of Janet Lee Hudson Crump and the son the late Thornton J. Crump and the late Lucile Bailey Crump. Mr. Crump was retired military, serving his country in World War II and the Korean War in the United States Air Force, retired from Kemet Electronics and of the Baptist faith.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by three daughters, Cheryl Pyle and her husband, Terry, of California, Marianne Dowless and husband, Charles, of Sumter, and Margaret Crump of Mauldin; one son, Fred E. Crump Jr. and his wife, Lori, of Taylors; two stepdaughters, Alison Robinson of Simpsonville and Sheila Henderson of Fountain Inn; two stepsons, Ronald Bramlett and wife, Mary, of Laurens and Neile Bramlett of Simpsonville; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and 10 stepgrandchildren.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, October 14, 2009, in the chapel of Cannon Funeral Home, Fountain Inn, at 10 a.m. with visitation to follow the service.

The Thomas Crump married to Margaret Gearton came to Chesterfield Co. from King William Co. They married in King William in the fall of 1784 and moved to Chesterfield in Dec. 1789. They had two sons, John and Elias according to Margaret's app. for a widow's pension. There also seem to have been daughters.
Anyway, this Thomas was not the same as Thomas son of Richard and Susannah Wilkinson of Bedford Co. Va. That Thomas married Frances Taylor about 1785 and moved to Mercer Co., Ky. He had a son David/Daniel and perhaps others. I have not investigated him beyond his Rejected Claim for bounty land.
The Tax lists of King William have Thomas Crump, but it is not possible right now to know who his father was. King William has such losses of records!
Margaret Gearton was the daughter of George Gearton of King William. After Thomas Crump died she married Wm. Logwood in Chesterfield.
I think Richard son of Joseph Crump of NC was the Richard who lived in Isle of Wight & Surry Co., Va. There were so many Richard Crumps that sorting them out is very difficult.

Yes, I also am a descendant of Stephen Crump. My great grandmother was Elvira Paralee Crump who was born in the 1800's in LA. Also, another of Stevens descendants was in Harrison, Arkansas where I now live. My only connection with the Harrison Crumps is through Stephen. Were do you come in along the line of descendants. Guess we are distant cousins.

My ggg.grandmother was myra crump from Bellville,Texas had to be born about 1860.I have research to find that:William E.Crump was a slave owner in Bellville,Texas He was born 1809-1889 died in Bellville,Tx: also there is a: hand book of texas online to help you out,also i found a Jared Groce brought 90 slaves there on his plantation.I have been tring to find a slave census of austin county...I was born there i left when i was young boy my grandmother was Alice Curry died in 1969
she told me stories about the steam ships on the brazos river when she took me fishing i am 54 years now also it is a lot of history in Bellville i didnt know about..now living in cedar park,texas..good luck

In reviewing slave schedules for MS. It appears that while my African American Crumps were from VA they were slaves to Crumps from NC who migrated to Monroe County, MS.

Do you have information on why the Crumps migrated from VA to NC to MS?

Also, I'm seeking documents such as wills, etc that list the property held by the NC Crumps. . .specifically Joseph J Crump and his children.

In Wyandotte Cty, KS in 1930 ( I think ).

Looking for descendants of Frederick and Helen Crump that would have family information or pictures relating to Helen's parents, George and Matilda (Upton) Pinkham.

(Or Crump family researchers that would have the same.)

I am particularly interested in pictures relating to the Pinkham's time in Trego County Kansas.

William Crump of York Co. was born in 1632 and arrived in Va. as a headright in 1648 or before. He married an Ann ? and was the father of Stephen & probably William and Richard Crump of New Kent Co.
There is no known connection between William and Thomas or John Crump. Nor is William of York connected to a William Crump who lived further north in Va. at the same time.
Do you descend from the New Kent line?

2. John Sr. b abt 1700in Fauquier marr Hannah Travers. Need their parents & siblings. They may be parents of ? in # 1. I have a son John Jr. b abt 1720 who marr Elizabeth Triplett sister to Catherine. That's why I think they were brothers.

In several listed family trees, William Crump (b. 1771)is shown as being from the line-

Thomas/Thome Crump (1603) & Elinor (b Alberbury Shropshire)
Son Humphrey (1629) m Elinore Howlett (b Alberbury)
Son Edward Crump (1675) m Sarah Baldwin (b Broseley, Shropshire)
Son Jeremiah Crump (1708) m Mary Medlicott (b Broseley)
Son Jeremiah Crump (1743) m Margaret Stanworth (b Wellington, Shropshire)
Son William Crump (1771) m Phebe Bates? (b Wellington, Shropshire)

There are many Crump records on FamilySearch.org (IGI, Ancestral files etc), and the line seems to be quite well documented in family trees. However, there appears to be a discrepency as William Crump is still alive in the 1841 census, yet for this William Crump the Ancestral File shows:
William Crump b14 April 1771, Christchurch, Wellington, Shropshire; father Jeremiah Crump, Margaret Stanworth; but death 24 Sept 1830. If this is correct, he would not be in the 1841 census.

In the 1841 census William is shown as resident in Trysull, Staffs, age 70, NOT born in the county (ie not born in Staffs- therefore could be born in Shropshire), with son John Crump (age 45) plus John's wife Sarah (age 45) and presumed grandchildren William (10), Benjamin (9), Phebe (7) and Hannah (5). Phebe is also the name of William's deceased wife, which fits in as Phebe the granddaughter is likely named after her grandmother Phebe Bates.

The assumption is that the William Crump in the 1841 census is the one in the AF/IGI records and therefore the descendent of the Crumps of Alberbury going back to c1603. Could this William Crump in fact be another William- although there don't seem to be any others listed for about that date. The facts seem to fit except for the 'stated' date of death as 1830.

Does anyone have an explanation or any more information?

William Riley Crump was the son of David and Jane Clark Crump. He was born March 20, 1871 and died September 16, 1963. His wife was Mary Jane Woodruff. Maybe this William is part of your family.

Hi I descend from William through his son John, and the info I have is that William was born in Claverly, Shropshire and died in 1854 I am not sure where though, my info came from Mel Blackwell on genes reunited and Sue Peters on Ancestry. John Crump, Sr., b. ca. 1692, married Hannah Travers. He died ca. 1745/6 in Prince Wm. Co., VA. Children: 1. Mary, married ? Middleton, 2. Elizabeth, m. Wm. Blackwell, 3. John, b. 21 Oct 1720 m. Elizabeth Triplett, 4. Susanna m. James Hewitt, 5. Hannah m. Thomas Triplett, 6. George unmarried, 7. Benjamin m. (1) Hannah James (2) Mary Barbour Price (3) Elizabeth Moore, and last, 8. Joseph unmarried.

Possibly John, Sr. was a son of William Crump, b. ca. 1652, but a note says this has not been proved.

Are you a descendant of Thomas Crump's son John? Because no recorded evidence has been found that Thomas had a son named William and there are grave doubts in the minds of many Crump researchers that Thomas was the progenitor of the New Kent Co. line.

I would like to see if I could help. But before I do maybe some names could see if we are related. I do not have much info on the Crump Branch of the family, but would like to learn more.

Carl Lee Crump was born November 11 1910, in Pineville, North Carolina, and he passed away July 5 1970, in Pineville, North Carolina. His wife was Mary Thelma McCoy, who is still living.

Carl's parents were Frank Crump, and Sarah Helms. Frank was born Sep 1874, and died the 18th of April 1933.

Sorry about it being little information. Do these names sound familiar?

My 3rd GrGrandfather, Shedrick Crump Sr was born 1777 in Eng, Fa, Eng & Mo, Eng. I know from a Minnesota USA census of 1870, no clue as where in Eng? Year unknown but He migrated to Cornwall, Canada, married Nellie Swarts, had children, Michael 1818, Mary, Peter, Hannah, Shedrick Jr, James & Levi b.1840. hi, my father did not live in winston salem he met my mom in winston salem from there i do beleive they moved a lot but he did spend some time here in mecklenburg county going by his social security caed application but from there i have no idea, there are a lot of A.A. crumps in charlotte but i have yet to meet one. if you live in mecklenburg county maybe we can stay in touch to find out more about our Crump's
