When I have more time I will look at the London records on Ancestry and see if the tree can be traced back any further and hopefully linked to one of the other trees.

I'm looking for information on a Fred Cruse from Paducah, Ky (b: 10 June 1882, d: perhaps 20 Aug 1907, maybe in a logging accident?). He was married to Birdie Myrtle Manley who remarried Charles F. Conner after Fred died. Fred and Birdie had four sons: William O., Harry, Leland, and Raymond. William O. Cruse was born about 1900 and married Stella Ballard. They only had one child, a son named Thomas Vernon Cruse, and lived in a Paducah. I know there are relatives still living in Paducah, and one of them supposedly has done some research on this side of the family. I can't find a single piece of information about Fred other than his birthdate and to whom he was married. Anyone out there know anything about him?

I know this was posted some time ago, but I thought I would respond anyway as I see no one else has. I am Thomas V. Cruse's granddaughter, Lindsay. I recently started doing family history research, and have become stuck on finding information about my grandfather's dad, who was apparently named Fred Cruse (b. 10 June 1882, d: 20 Aug 1907). I can't find anything about him, other than he possibly died in a logging accident. Is there a particular piece of information that you are looking for?

Hi Sarah

I've got lots of information on the various Cruse lines from Wiltshire, including one branch that changed its spelling to Scruse. I've got a blog post here about the Cruses of Orcheston St George:

http://cruwys.blogspot.com/2008/06/crusescruse-of-wiltshire....

I'm also running a DNA project for the Cruse surname. We still need people to test from these Wiltshire trees so if you have any male relatives who would like to participate do get in touch. I've got funding to provide free tests if required.

Best wishes

Debbie Kennett
Cruse/Cruwys one-name study
http://www.one-name.org/profiles/cruwys.html
Hello,
I have not been delving into family history but came upon this message board by chance. I was born a Cruse and my family lived/s in Shrewton, the parish adjoining Maddington and just a mile from Orcheston, both mentioned on this site. There are loads of us! I'm 64 and my great-grandfather was alive when I was a child. I have many Cruse relatives living in the village still, including my father. His father was one of 14 children, so I have cousins, second-cousins and others all about the place! That's just for info in case anyone is interested. Cheers.

I, too am from those hard to find PA Cruses. My gggrandfather was Augustus Cruse who moved his family from PA to Miami Co, Ohio in 1838(?), the place and year my ggrandfather, George Washington Cruse was born. I've seen a few threads about John Cruse, Augustus' father, b.Berks Co, PQ 1761, D. Miami County, Ohio 1837. Like Marguerite Butzow, the Cruse/Rench/Eidhelberger are all my family lines. I would sure like to hear from anybody with PA Cruse lines! my email is deafmtnbear@gmail.com

Would also like any info on Unknown Monaghan, born about 1840 in Ireland and married to Elizabeth McLaughlin of Maryland.

William and Elizabeth Cruse had the following children:

Rebecca (b. about 1822),
William (b. about 1823), and
Charles (b. about 1828), all in Maryland.

Rebecca is my 3rd great grandmother. She married Joseph McLaughlin (b. 1810, Ireland) about 1830 in Maryland. Rebecca and Joseph McLaughlin had the following children:

Elizabeth (b.about 1841),
John (b. about 1843),
Joseph (b. about 1845), and
Jane (b. about 1847), all in Baltimore, Maryland.

Elizabeth is my great great grandmother. She married first a Monaghan, first name unknown, about 1860 or 1861 in Maryland. Unknown Monaghan was born in Ireland. It is believed that he probably died in battled during the Civil War but we have no proof. She married second Henry Fisher (b. about 1842, Maryland) before 1870 in Maryland. Henry Fisher's father was born in Bavaria, Germany. His mother was born in Maryland.

Elizabeth and Unknown Monaghan had the following children:

Charles Patrick (b. 14 Jan 1861, Baltimore, Maryland).

Charles Patrick Monaghan was my great grandfather. I sure would like to know more about his family. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Cathy Monaghan

You can find all the pedigrees that are associated with the project here:

http://www.familytreedna.com/public/CruwysDNA/default.aspx?s...

You can e-mail via the project or via Ancestry for further details.

I'm the admin of the Cruse/Cruwys project. Is the kit in my project? If so do get in touch with me and I'll see if I can help as I have all the pedigrees of the project members. The outline pedigrees are posted on the project's results page. A 37-marker match is not necessarily significant. You really need both parties to upgrade to 67 markers if you wish to investigate a match with a different surname.

I have had a DNA done with Family Tree and have a 37 Marker - Genetic Distance - 2 match with a Cruse but can not get him to answer any emails.
Thank you for your reply. I certainly would enjoy communicating and sharing information with you.

I will get my Cruse information out (sorta got sidetracked on the genealogy thing for a while) and send you information. I can't help but think that I must be related to Augustus some how. Maybe a Great?? Uncle or Cousin. Perhaps we can find out.

By the way I am in Allentown, PA My name is Carolyn Bloomfield. We are about 3 1/2 away from Frankstown and Altoona where the Cruses lived. They have a really neat historical society. I was able to visit the cemetery where my Great Grandfather Harry is buried.

I want to go back to that area to do some more research. Perhaps this fall we will do that.

Will keep in touch,
God's blessings,

Carolyn

Great thank you.

Mary may have been married to a Michael Cruse. That name came up in another person's Cruse information. Her maiden name could have been Cooper.

I am going to have to check out the sons to see if any married a Mary.

If I remember either John Jr or Jacob had a daughter Mary but her name would be Cruse.

Carolyn

Carolyn,
John Cruse was not a Rev. but a Revolutionary War soldier born in Berks Co. PA in 1761. As far as I know, he had for sons that lived around the Frankstown area. That would be John Jr, Jacob, William and Augustus. I would imagine he had daughters as well. Each one of these men of course, had daughters.
I'll look through my info for any Mary Cruse's.

Marguerite

Good Morning,
Thank you for your reply. I know you replied once before about the Cruse research.

I have looked at Augustus Cruse a couple of times but I cannot determine if he is related to any of my ancestors or not. My big problem is trying to find information on Mary Ann Cruse. She is my great great grandmother. She married Angus Kemberling of Frankstown later on.

The information I found on Find A Grave site has that she was first married to a Cruse but I cannot find a Cruse with a spouse Mary or Mary Ann.

I do not know where to look I did find a Cruse family with a daughter Mary. I am answering this at work and don't have information handy so I do not remember who her father was. I have wondered ifperhaps she was not married when she had my great grandfather.

I can scan a picture of my grandfather Landis Cruse and e-mail it to you. Perhaps that might give us some idea of a family resemblance.

I would love to know more about Rev. John Cruse. He may be the link and key to the family.

Would love to correspond with you more about your Cruse information and any I have or find that you would find useful. You can e-mail me at cacbloomfield@gmail.com

Carolyn

I am also descended from Augustus Cruse and have an old picture of a couple of his children and at least one if not two Landis children....maybe James Landis? This was at Piqua, OH. I've seen the Landis name in Berks County and also at Frankstown.

see my other post under ILfarmwife

I've never seen that name in my research in Berks County, PA, but you might check in the county next door (Montgomery) at Red Hill, there was a Johann Philip Cruse family there. They later moved to Rowan County, NC though.

My grandmother is Cora Ella Cruse from Dawson, Navarro County, Texas which is next to what used to be Spring Hill. She was born Feb 22, 1886. I am looking for her parents name. I am sure her dad is a descendant of the Crews/Cruse family from Maury County Tennessee. Does anyone have any information.
