Bela Csihas and Ettel Augsburger are my grandparents. They gave birth to my father Andre Augsburger Csihas who served in the Hungarian Army (Huzzar) during the 1st World War. My father Andre Csihas was married to ??? and fathered one child that I know Gurka Csihas who now lives in Toronto.
My father divorced at some point in Hungary and married my mother Clara Sisa who now lives near me in Arlington Virginia. My father Andre and my mom Clara had two children in Paris France (Andrew and Frank) in 49 and 51.
Later they moved to Colombia South America for 13 years. My father Andre Csihas died in Bogota Colombia in 1963 from trombosis and is buried in the German National Cemetery in Bogota Colombia. My brother Andrew now lives in San Antonio Texas and I (Frank) live in Alexandria Virginia.
My mom is now 88 years old and living well near me.

My grandfather was Joseph Csiha; married and lived in Cook County in the early thirties. Two children with Jane E (Edrie) Csiha then divorced and remarried. Does anyone have additional information about Joseph, such as parent's names, etc? I would like to add to my family tree

My name is Karen and I am the daughter of Kenneth Csiha. My father contacted you in 1995 (?) concerning the family name and it's history. His father, Joseph Csiha, had left the family when my dad was a child and remarried. My father died before he could complete his ancestry search but I would like to complete it now. Any information you have on our particular Joseph Csiha who immigrated to American in the early 1900's and married Jane E Dodgett would be helpful. Joseph identified his mother as German and his father as Bohemian.

Please contact me if you are still checking these posts. My grandfather, Joseph Csiha, was born in Germany, 1902, but lists his mother as Bohemian. He immigrated to American and married Jane Dodgett and had Dorothy and Kenneth before divorcing and remarrying. Kenneth was my father.

Joseph Csiha was my grandfather although I never knew him. He was married to Edrie (Jane E) Csiha and had Dorothy Jane (1927) Robert (1928 deceased) and Kenneth Eugene (1930) and divorced sometime after that. My grandmother remarried in 1947 and that person is the only grandfather I knew. Joseph remarried and had more children, one being a pharmacist in Libertyville, IL. I am trying to complete my family tree and would like to know if Joseph is Hungarian or German. I have a census form from 1930 in which he states is father was Bohemian and his mother German. Would just like to fill in the blanks.

Thank you, Attila. After talking with Sue I realized that the picture she had of Joseph Csiha was the same (and only) picture I had of my grandfather. I will contact this person in Hungary and see if she knows any other Csiha's. Before my father's death in 1996, he had begun researching his surname and hoped to find other family members. Perhaps I can take up his cause.

I'am a Csihas Antal, Csihas Karolina descendant, female, living in Hungary. One part of my ancestors were born and buried in Szonta/Sonta wich belongs to Serbia now. I am linked to the Csihas by my grandmother, she was born in Szonta as well. Her name was tihanyi Thurszky Margit. I am looking for the Csihas descendant who lives in Toronto and is a descendant of Csihas Bela and Augsburger Etel.I have my grandparents wedding photo - made in the year 1911 - with Csihas Bela and his wife Etel on it. I think they were my grandmother's godparents.

I am Thomas Csiha, 76 years old and live half in the US
and half in Budapest and Vienna.
The place you mention is about right. The family originated
roughly in this area. It is an old Hungarian family
originated in eastern Hungary (that time) I am back to 1562
with my search. It is a large and succesfull family.

Please let me know how you think you fit in?

So far it is an old Hungarian family, very productive and famous in Hungary. So far I am back to 1562 where the family
received nobility stand from the King of Hungary that time.

I am 76 years old and live partly in the US and partly

Anyone have information on Joseph Csiha? He is in the 1930 Chicago Illinois, census with wife Jane, and daughter, Dorothy. He probably has some ties to Springfield, Illinois. I am looking for his parents, immigration records, etc.

My great-grandfather was a Joseph Csiah, immigrated from Germany in 1930?, we think he was originally from Hungary. He had a son and daughter in Chicago, IL. in '33 and 35 I think.

I'm sure that we're related somehow. I'm going to look into this further with my father and get names and dates. I'm in Toronto. My father is Csihas Gyorgy (1926 Budapest), married to Beatrix Mosdossy (Budapest 1921), daughter of battai Mosdossy Imre (1904) and Jeney Agathe (Jeney).

Csihas Gyorgy son of Csihas Endre and (1894 Szonta) and Noskay Vilma (1902 Budafok).

Endre was son of Csihas Bela and Augsburger Etel.

That's about as far back as I can get so far. If any of these names seem familiar to you, leave another post...

We just might be related. My Csihas' are from the town of Militisch, which is now located in Serbia. Rosalia Csihas is my Great Great Grandmother. Her parents were Josef and Anna Maria Piller. She had Siblings names Jakob, Josef, Magdalena, and Anna Maria.

is a well-known hungarian political personality and as I know the name Csiha is not so frequent. Probably she - or her relatives - knows something about your relative who was born in Hungary at 1881.

Josephus Csihas, my ggggrandfather was born about 1818 and died 23 july 1887 in Racs Militics, Batschka, Austria-Hungary. this village is also known as Milititsch. I found your message. The only thing i can tell you, is that here in Holland the name Joseph Loerakker is in our genealogy wellknown. During ages we se the name Joseph in our trees. maybe we can findout who is who. All the ancestors lived in the city of Haarlem, which is in the north-western part of Holland. If you would like to have more information, please let me know and i will try to find out.

Today I found 3 pictures of Csihas in my mom's stuff. 2 are of a Joe Csiha - one is a postcard photo that says 'Mr Joe Csiha' on the back and the other a snapshot that says "This is my brother Joe Csiha." The last one is a snapshot of an older couple and says 'Mr Mrs A. Csiha' on the back. These are probably my aunt Anne Csiha's in-laws. I also found a snapshot marked 'Joseph Loerakker' who must be my aunt Mary's husband. Anybody sound familiar???? Thanks, Sue

My grandfather Frank Fait had a sister named Mrs. Anne Csiha who lived, at one time, in Springfield, Illinois. He was born in Hungary in 1881, came to the US in 1907. He lived 4 years in Springfield then came west to Washington State where he married my grandmother. They had 2 daughters - Alice and Elsie. Alice was my mom. Another sister was named Mrs. Mary Loeraker (? spelling). Any relatives out there??? We would love to hear from you.
