My mother-in-law's name is Ronwen Cudlipp who was born in Sault Ste. Marie Ontario Canda. She is related to the eldest son James Cudlipp of the William Cudlipp mentioned in your post. Do you have any additional information on this family? Like who are the parents of William?

Mr. Cudlip from Cornwall, grandfather of Mary ( nee Peake) Orem, daughter of Englishman Robert Peake, Am Rev deserter

First off, I am related to the Orem family but as far as I know not to this part of the family. My information comes primarily from 2 newspaper articles found in the Baltimore Sun in 1881. "Illness of a Centenarian" published Feb 22, 1881, gives this information: Mrs Mary Orem, living with son-in-law Mr. Hare in Hampden, Baltimore City, MD. Her father is Robert Peake, an Englishmen, who during the American Revolution, was a deserter from the British at the age of 16 and he joined the Colonist against the British. Her father married a Miss Murray. On Mrs Mary Orem's mother's side her Grandfather is Mr Cudlip, from Cornwall, England who left an "immense estate."
Mary Peake married Cooper Orem in 1806 in her father's house by Nathan Greenfield. Her husband served in the war of 1812 and 1814. She and Cooper Orem had 9 children. She lists her children surviving in 1881: James Orem, aged 75. Mrs. Ephraim Hare, oldest living daughter aged 65. Also Mrs. Harriet Simmons and Mary J Houk.
The next article is "Death of a Centenarian" published Feb 28, 1881 in the Sun. Gives her death as last Saturday morning (Feb 26.) One of the articles says she was in her 105th year or age 104 in 1881.

Hi Stewart
I don't have Julia Elizabeth Cudlipp listed in my tree but I believe most of the Portsmouth Cudlipps are related. I have the parents of her as George Cudlipp who died in 1853 and her mother Eleanor Dodd who later married George Crowley and had more children. There is a George Cudlipp listed in the 1851 Census as a Mariner and there is also a listing for a George Cudlipp, shipwright who died in 1846 so don't think this is the same George.
My direct ancestors are my G Grandfather Arthur Cudlipp Jnr, Pawnbroker and GG Grandfather Arthur Cudlipp Snr also a pawnbroker and Mayor of Portsmouth.
Hope this helps, let me know if know if you would like any further information on the Cudlipps and I will keep digging to see if I can see a connection for Julia Elizabeth Cuddlipp.
Barbara

Hi
The correct name is Julia Elizabeth Cudlipp, born in 1854 as seen on Birth Registry 1854.

I am trying to establish if your ancestors Cudlipp are related to my greatuncle's wife's Cudlipp ancestors. They lived in same district - Portsea Island - possibly they were distant cousins.

If you do not mind, may I have your email address?
Hi Maureen,

I have Jonathan Cudlip marrying a Mary Blake 01.01.1717 @ Stoke Damerel which I've taken from the IGI.
According to the IGI all but Elizabeth and Mary who you listed were christened at Saltash Cornwall, whose parents married at Saltash in 1724.
(Devon & Cornwall: - Wills and Administrations proved in the Bishop of Exeter, 1559-1799)There appears to be a will in 1749, of a Jonathan Cudlip , Saltash, this may throw some light depending on who is listed.
It seems that it may need researching the actual Parish records for a clue. But I dare say the families are intertwined somewhere along the line.
Sorry I haven't been much help but if I come across anything in the near future I'll be in touch.

Are you descended from either of Jonathan and Mary's children. I'm linked to Mary bn 1720

Regards

Graham

I am over in London from australia on a holiday, and am interested in meeting my fathers (Raymond Alan Cudlipp) side of the family. They lived in Plymouth.

My father married Lorraine Dark many years ago in Plymouth (i think).

His parents Roy & Doreen (nee Mudge) Cudlipp have passed away and I am interested in knowing about his sisters (he had no brothers) who married. I am not too sure of all names, but Margaret and Susan ring a bell.

If you know anything I would be grateful to hear from you as would be good to know little more about my family.
CUDLIPP

I am just returning to my family history research after a long absence. I would like to construct a family tree for CUDLIPP

I would like information about the ancestors of this couple:
James Stanton Moore, born 10 March, 1838, Milton Abbott, Devon, married Jane Cann Cudlipp on 4 March, 1864 in Tavistock, Devonshire. I have information on quite a number of their descdendants if anyone is interested.

It is my ultimate aim to have a worldwide family tree for all people of the CUDLIPP name. I would appreciate any family tree information from anyone in the world who shares this same name within their families as I hope to make connections with them all.

If anyone wishes to send me information, either a Gedcom or a file attached to an email would be very welcome. I am quite happy to send all the Moore information I have in return. I run Legacy 6 as a genealogy programme on my computer.

Thanks for your assistance, everyone. .
LOL in dog years it must be at least 1400 by now :o)

I can be contacted on tracylouise@gmail.com

I hit a sort of dead end looking back through the family tree right about the time I realised that for some reason the name Thomas was passed father to first born son through the generations without the help of adding middle names for ease of identification

I did manage to find one ancestor that was shipped to Australia on a prison ship. On the manifest it listed his name and a couple of alias's but no detail about exactly what he'd been charged with, but I guess the alias's made it kind of selfexplanitory.

Look forward ot hearing from you.

Regards
Tracy

Agreed she is the most likely Betty to be the mother.
Note her mother was misrecorded as Jane at
her baptism. She was in fact Joan. Her parents
were married 31st March 1783 at Lamerton,
just west of Tavistock. Betty was christened 24 March 1794 in Tavistock.
I have Richard Phillips Cudlip(p) marrying my 3xGgrandaunt Harriett BOND 21 May 1842 in Stoke Damerel - my problem is that I cannot find them anywhere after that date.
John, the information I have was in the Maxwell family bible. It gives the name of my ggrandfather George Cudlipp as being the son of James Cudlipp. This may have been an error. Are you a descendant of the Cudlipp family? It appears that my grandmother may have been named after her grandmother since they had the same first name. Her brother's name was also William, possibly named after his grandfather. Can you give me anymore information about this family?

Richard Phillips Cudlipp was the son of the unmarried Betty Cudlipp (and probably Richard Phillips, hence his naming) in Tavistock,
Devon on 12th September 1808. Betty was
living at West Street in Tavistock at the time.
There were a couple of Betty Cudlipp's in
their 20's at the time so unsure of further lineage
at the moment.
