Albino Cuellar was my great grandfather. My mother was born in Ft Stockton, TX. I am on active duty currently stationed in Riverside, CA, and my mother only a week ago informed me that she found an old newspaper clipping, obituary I believe, that lists a brother or son (Custelo?) living in Riverside. I may possibly be an extended relative of yours. I am just beginning to search for extended relatives out here in Riverside, so hope to find them.

Hello again Hope
My father has passed away at age 92 in Feb of this year. His name was Miguel Guerrero Cuellar, and he
was born in Laredo,Texas on April 6,1913.I am still searching for any descendents of this family which at
one time as a large family. My father was the last of his generation as all his sisters and only brother died over
the years, his sisters all died in the 1920s of a contagious lung disease.I have found out thru my mother who is still living that my great grand father had
a more daughters, one was possibly Juanita and I believe they lived in Mexico. My father also mentioned an Estrada family that moved to Corpus and owned a car dealership, the man just passed away last month. He also mentioned the Valenzuelas as being my grandfather Miguels close friends, they might have known each other from the villista days. When my grandmother died in 1926,my grandfather married a widow from Seguin named Guadalupe Caballero Flores. My mother also states that my gfather Miguel lived in Monterrey not Agualeguas.I am not sure this is true but I may look into that in my searches.Regards.

Very interesting info on Cuellar, Santa Cruz. I am related to the Cuellars on my paternal side. I had my cousin try to visit Joe Cuellar in Corrales but could not find him. I wanted info on Joe's side of the family. I haven't been able to find much on Celso Cuellar who was my greatgreatgrandfather. I know the family lived in Socorro, New Mexico.

Sorry, I don't know of any cousins in Ca. but have been contacted by others in New Mexico. I have been corresponding with another cousin in Oregon. So far deadends on our greatgreat grandfather, Celso Cuellar.Yes, I ran into the Jewish connection on other family sites which explains some "different" things. Most of the people that would know about Santa Cruz and the others are all gone now. Thanks for the info.

Henry Cuellar, Illinois or Idaho

I am searching for my father Henry Cuellar. He met my mother Debra Garner in Elgin, Illinois. I was born in 1980 at St Joseph's Hospital. He had moved from Illinois to Idaaho before I was born. To my knowledge he still has family in Illinois, his mother I think. I really have no other information on him as I never met him before and my family has not told me very much about him. The last I heard was that he had remarried in Idaho and had four or five children, of course that was over ten years ago. If you have any information please contact me at kgarner2180@hotmail.com. thanks

Kari Garner

We are Cuellar decendents of South Texas. Starting with Bernabe Cuellar (1872-1946) of Villagran, Tamaulipas, Mexico who married his wife Felicitas? (1876-1948) in (Maguays) Linares/Nuevo Leon, Mexico. They had 5 children Cliotilde,Genoviva, Arnulfo, Maria de la Luz and Francesca), all born between 1891-1912) and now all deceased. They entered the USA in mid-1916, settled in Pharr, (Hidalgo, Texas) with his sister Mariana Cuellar-Barajas...then about 1918 all moved on to the Texas City, New Gulf and Wharton area's, near Houston. Only Maria de la Luz returned to the La Valle. Their decendents are spread all over lower coastal Texas.

If anyone has any information relating to this line, PLEASE contact me at:

www.VEWenneker@AOL>com

Verle E.
hey there... i read your thread on the cuellars and i think that you and i may be related. unfortunately i can not prove it yet only through rumors that i have heard from my cousin in.... Wisconsin. he has the family of cuellars that i am related to going back to 1000 A.D. we are from the castle cuellar in spain. our family exited out of Spain during the 1300's i think. anyway i read a link on the web of your tree and like i said i can not prove yet that we are related. but my cuellars after spain, came to mexico then later settled in southern texas . mostly in Cotulla, wes Laco, and Dilly.

Hi, the NM family history for Luis Cuellar: (my pat.grandfather), his second marriage to Theodora, Dora, Chavez, their only child was Evangelina Anita Cuellar, Helen, (b. 1928, NM.) Helen was my mother. Before Helen was born, there was a divorce. I met Luis when, he visited my mom for the first time, in the early 1960's, when I was in high school. After the divorce from my grandmother Dora, Luis moved to California and died there, sometime during the 70's???. We suspect there is more Cuellar family there. His first marriage produced his son, Joe and sister Mela--I think there is another sibling. Joe lives in Albuquerque (Corrales.) When I was a preschool child, Santa Cruz, Luis' brother, visited my mom, Helen, weekly. He carried a black Bible and was always talking about the end-times. I remember standing by his side at the kitchen table, the Bible open, as they drank coffee and sometimes had cake. He wore a black, wide brim hat, a black suit, and carried a black Bible with him. At that time, he drove a black, Ford Model T?? truck, that sometimes had a canopy over baskets and boxes of apples, vegetables or green chili. When I would see him drive up to Virginia St. NW(now Los Tomases NW), I would run in the house to tell my mom that Tio Santo Cruz was here. On his death bed at the hospital, late 1980's??, Santa Cruz revealed in Spanish, that the Cuellars were Jewish, and that he wanted a Star of David on his headstone. There was absolute shock and verbal denial by a family member, which can be understandable. The tongue-in-cheek Cuellar's family history/story was always that there were 3 Cuellar fugitive brothers running from the "law." They landed in Mexico, one came to New Mexico and the other to Mexico or Central or South America and the other???? Now with the crypto-Jewish connection revealed, by Santa Cruz Cuellar, it was probably during a Spanish pogram, that drove the brothers to the "New World," running from Spain, "the law." It would be interesting to know if there are other Cuellars with a similar 3 brothers history of running from the Old World. bettyanne otero, albuquerque
hi darwin---for a fact my paternal grandfather's side of the family cuellar were crypto-Jews. If you have read the other postings I sent about luis & santa cruz cuellar, then you will know all that I know to date. How your cuellar family reached the phill., I don't know. If you have a general time/date it may have been during one of the Jewish expulsions from Europe--especially since your country has a Spanish pop of old. For our side, there were 3 brothers running from "the law"--like fugitives, one came to New Mexico, I think one to Mexico and the other unknown--they seemed to have separated when they reached the New World.

I think those Cuellars descend from the ones from Guerrero
Viejo.I have read many of Paula's inquiries and it seems that they belong to the Lisarraras y Cuellar family. The
Cuellars were founders of Saltillo in the late 1500s,so you can imagine how many generations have come out of that family. If you are interested in finding out which Cuellars you are descended from there is another web site named
The Genealogy of Mexico and a study which invloves DNA to determine if you are a Cuellar by blood and what Cuellar
you belong to.The study is being done by Gary Felix, they can trace your linage to thousands of years back.Good luck.

I know there is one Cuellar tree at Lisarraras y cuellar web
site but it doesnt list all Cuellars in south texas. My family is not on that family tree.Perhaps it was because of the litigations implicated because of all the land the family owned at one time.Or it was because some Cuellars
intermarried with native americans and the offspring were dis owned by the Spanish Cuellars.I know my Cuellar lineage crossed over to an unknown indian tribe from rio verde.I heard my great-grandfather was half breed, and my grandfather
was born with blue eyes,so was my fathers.I have slightly blue hue in mines. There are no more pure blood spaniards any
more, but we still can be descended from the Cuellars that founded Saltillo and Revilla (Guerrero Viejo),there are no other Cuellars that I know of.If you come across another Cuellar family tree let me know.
