My great, great grandparents were Nicola Balsamo, born in 1845 and Camela Bova, born in 1850. This is all the information I have on them, besides their daughter, Josephine that was my great grandmother. I would love to know if you might have anything on them or beyond.

"cuffaru," an oggupationel name for medieval hat and/or coffin/box/wooden pan makers, is stated to be the original spelling from bagheria, palermo, sicily. however, being practically ALL sicilians migrated from rome and far northwd regions, it could be all these names originated from CAFFARO in lombardy. there is the Caffaro River there in Brescia, and a little alpine town called pontecaffaro , c. 1715. we are not from the genovan city of Caffa, though, as it was named for the famous Medieval chronicaler, caffaro. CAffaro could be The Jewish spellx.
