I have Cuffees Born all over Chesapeake and Virginia Beach related. I grew up with family of Cuffee's marry each other.
Thru my research I see why. One is Adopted and Bloodline and so Bloodline from Brothers Lines. Capt. Paul had Kids and his Brother John Had kids. There are two other Cuffee families Sarah and some whites started Cuffee hard to know about when.
We have Cherokee Blood started with Charles Wife Clarissa, Paul's Son. Paul had one Adopted Son George is long line of Cuffee. A Betty Born abt 1916 is in William W Cuffee Family.

I am also related to the cuffee's in Blackwater. My Grandmother was Lindoria Cuffee Mosley. My brother and I spent a lot of time as children in Blackwater with "Cousin Hester".

I think my great-great grandmother's name was Laura Cuffee and she married Edmond Hudgins (or Huggins). They had children Iona (my great grandmother - married name Skinner) and Mary (married name Smith). It seems that the entire family moved to Norfolk, VA at some point.

Any assistance in helping me to clarify this would be helpful. Thanks!

i have been researching my family. I have Rev Paul Cuffee's parents as Peter Paul Cuffee and Jane (either Jane john or Jane Peters Cuffee). Rev Paul Cuffee's wife was Hannah. I am having difficulty in finding dates on Hannah. Any help would be appreciated. My Grandmother Was Irene Cuffee, and her father and mother were William Henry Cuffee And Mary Ellen Cuffee. Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

I am also related to the Cuffee's in Chesapeake and Virginia Beach Area, Ulysse's Cuffee was my great great grandfather My family owns a great deal of fentress Airfield and we own a lot of property in Long ridge that we are sorting out now. I am interested in pictures and doing more research to bring the cuffee family together so that more pieces to the family tree can be concrete and built up because we have a lot of history here in VA and abroad. Our history needs to be preserved better because no one is telling our story.

It is possible. My parents spoke of Rev. Paul Cuffee with a church in Fairfield, CT., which is next to Westport, CT. The information I have is the Rev. Paul Cuffee was born 3/4/1757 in Wading River (Brookhaven) and died 3/7/1812 in Canoe Place (Hampton Bays). He had a son named William Cuffee who married Wealthy Cuffee and produced a son named Paul Cuffee. Paul then married Ruth Cuffee and produced William Henry Cuffee who married Mary Ellen. They produced Irene Cuffee (my grandmother). William Henry Cuffee was born May 1855 in Hauppauge, NY and died Sept 16, 1919 in Stony Brook, LI, New York. Irene Cuffee was born February 1896. I need assistance with getting dates of birth, death and locations. I have names going back to Peter Paul Cuffee and Jane Peters. Also Peter John and Peggy (she was Montauk), but no dates. I do believe that second Paul Cuffee might have been a preacher also, but I am not sure. I have to go to the Historical Society in Fairfield to search various church records. I have never seen any definite link between the Virginia Cuffee and the Westport Paul Cuffe. If you are willing to send me your email address I can send it to two people who would be glad to work with you. I don't know if there are any female descendants of Paul Cuffe in the military. I talked with a couusin of mine and he stated all the Cuffee's are related some way or another .My great grandfather was Julian Cuffee out of Norfolk Va. but my cousin said we also have ties to Paul Cuffee out of Mass.Some where along the line we have indian blood mixed in I am 57 years old and my cousin is alot older.My grandmother was Isabelle Cuffee from Bishopville,MD. Hi, I was wondering if anyone has a connection to Amsey/Amzie and Nancy Cuffee from Princess Anne County. Trying to confirm this but they may be the parents of Armstead Brite/Bright (born aroud 1826-7). He was Native American/African American and lived in the Pleasant Grove area of Norfolk County. A great granddaughter of his remembers a photo of him in full American Indian garb with long braids.

I know I'm really late to your conversation...but I've been reading the posts and you're talking about family members I know very well. As a matter of fact, I was just at the family cemetery in Deep Creek yesterday taking pics of some of the graves to help me with my online research.
My name is Valerie Bly...I am a descendent of the Cuffee and Cassell families. My paternal grandmother, Vivian Cassell was the sister of Hurley, Hilton (aka Bubba), Waverly, Jocelyn & Mary Cassell. They all lived on Galberry Rd. Their father was Arthur Cassell, son of Joseph Cassell(he changed his name from Cuffee) whose parents were Mary Elizabeth Cuffee and Jim Tucker. My paternal grandfather, Willie Eugene Bly was the grandson of Charles & Lizzie (also known as Teeny) Cuffee. At present I'm working on THAT side of my Cuffee tree...some research would have me believe that line goes back to the shipping Capt. Paul Cuffee, but I've not yet proven the link. This is just a shot in the dark, but, I am looking for information on a Cuffee (1820) child of Olive Thomson (1815). This info is from the slave register. I had thought that "Cuffee" was the first name. There was also another person "Big Cuffee (1773). Any info would be appreciated. Thanks!
