I have Kate Cullivan, sister of your Thomas. Kate was born in New York (some sources say New Jersey) and married Thomas Creviston in Floyd County, Indiana in 1870. There is a snippet in the New Albany, Floyd Co. paper.
Publisher: New Albany Daily Ledger
Date: 1870 11 23
Title: Marriages
Subjects: Creviston, Thomas
Cullivan, Catharine
Page: 2
Column: 1

Kate and Thomas Creviston had 3 children I know of, Owen, Thomas and Mary.

Mary E ("Mame")Creviston married Walter Andrew Perkins 28 Apr 1892 in New Albany, Floyd County, IN. They had 6 children:
PERKINS - Charles, Robert, Walter, Helen, Sidney and Harold. They moved from Floyd County to Anderson, Madison County. IN late 1890's and in 1912 moved to Akron, Summit County, Ohio. Many are buried at Holy Cross Cemetery in Akron.

From the Cemetery inscriptions for Huron county it seems Thomas's sister Elizabeth married Philip Flood. According to the 1900 Census:
Philip Flood b Jun 1881 / IRL; wife Elizabeth b. Apr 1854/ NJ. Children: T James b. May 1885/OH; A Mary b. Feb 1883/OH; Veronica b. Aug 1886/OH. Mary Cullivan also lives in the household. Home in 1900: Kenton Ward 4, Huron, Ohio.

Gabriele Harkey

I have begun collecting information about all people with the surname Cullivan and placing it online at Rootsweb's WorldConnect.
Cullivan Family DNA Project started

The Cullivan Family DNA Project has started at the Family Tree DNA (FTDNA) company. The project home page is located at:
http://www.familytreedna.com/public/Cullivan

We have results for one Cullivan male so far. There is another DNA sample being tested this month. The second sample is for a Cullivan whose earliest ancestor was born about 1761 in Aghalackan, Annagelliff, Cavan, Ireland.

If you are interested in joining this project, you can click on the "REQUEST TO JOIN THIS GROUP" link at the top left of the web site. If you'd like further email, you can either post below, or send me an email.

Perhaps you don't know where your Cullivan ancestors originated from. Or perhaps you wish to see how closely your Cullivan line matches other Cullivan lines. In addition, we will be comparing our results to those with other surnames such as Colvin and Coldwell, two names which have been linked to Cullivan in Ireland. If any of these interest you, I encourage you to join the project with a 37-marker test to answer these questions. (The price is $191 if you test your DNA from within this project, a savings of $68.)

Susan Daily
Project Administrator

I don't know if this will help, but while searching for WINEMAN and WEINMANN families in Indianapolis cemeteries I ran across this one:

Martha CULLIVAN Weinmann, buried at Crown Hill Cemetery on 12 May 1923 in Section 47, Lot 114. She is in the same section and lot as a number of other Weinmanns: Joseph E., Carrie F., Harold Ferger, John, John C., Krisenze, Lucille.

I have no further information. Perhaps the cemetery records would give more information.

Louise,

Thank you for that clarification. I do not have a marriage date for John Cullivan and Mary E. but LDS reflects with them a child, Mary Elizabeth Chadd 1855 Daviess IN, died 17 APR 1894. You appear to be saying she was the child of the wife and not of this union. The marriage of Powell Chadd was later.

I do have a Hiram B. Powell bn abt 1848 IN, who died 29 NOV 1869 IN marriage 29 NOV 1869, reflecting this wife Mary Elizabeth Chadd born 1855 Daviess IN who died 17 APR 1894. This Mary Elizabeth Chadd (1855-1894) reflects her parents as John Cullivan and Mary E. and the children you mention as Powells. I will check further into this.

You may email me privately if you wish. I believe we have a connection through Potts/Chaddd. Cheers1004@yahoo.com

Thanks
Barbara,
I read your query from several years ago. Your great, great grandfather and mine was Patrick Henry Hogan the mother of Mary Hogan marrid to Thomas Culllivan in Norwalk, Ohio. You may or may not know that Patrick's daughter Mary (your great grandmother) had 3 sisters and 4 brothers from Patrick's marraige to Mary Fitzgerald Hogan who is buried in Thompson, Ohio. In addition, Patrick re-married after his 1st wife's death a woman named Julia Brady and subsequently had 8 more children (4 boys and 4 girls) one of which, Daniel Hogan is my great grandfather. I have found much information on Patrick Henry between the years of 1860 to his death in 1893 in Norwalk, Ohio. If you are interested, please let me know. John A. Hogan of North Olmsted, Ohio

I am looking for descendants of Thomas Hogan born in Massechusetts in 1852, son of Patrick Henry Hogan and Mary Hogan who resided in Thompson, Ohio in 1860. Thomas, like his father was a blacksmith. He and his wife Rose had three children according to the 1880 census in Sandusky, Ohio. The children were Mary. Hilary, and Emily. I cannot seem to find him after 1880 although his stepmother's (Julia Brady, Patrick Henry's 2nd wife) obituary states that Thomas resided in Mighigan along with his brother John. His 3 sisters in 1920 are married and living in California. If you have any info please let me know.

I am looking for descendants of Thomas Cullivan and Mary Ann Hogan married in Norwalk, Ohio 1870-75.

I am the great.great grandsonof Mary Ann's father Patrick Henry Hogan who lived in Thompson, Ohio and then migrated to Norwalk, Ohio. His 1st wife Mary died in 1866 and is buried in Thompson, Ohio. He had 4 boys and 4 girls with Mary previous to her death.

In 1869 he married Julia Brady from Norwalk, Ohio and proceeded to have 4 more boys and 4 more girls in that marriage. I have discovered through my research that in 1920 five of Patrick and Mary's children were still alive. They were Thomas, Mary, John, Margarett and Ella. If I can fill in the gaps for anyone please let me know. I would love to hear from you.

Ken,
I am wondering if you know what happened to your grandmother Sadie's brother, Walter Cullivan? I found him in Reeves, Daviess Co., Indiana with the family you listed in 1900 and 1910. In 1920, it looks like he is living in Washington, Daviess, IN with a wife, Mary A., and a daughter whose name I cannot read. But I cannot find him in the 1930 census. I located his death record on SSDI, so he died in Sep. 1977 (born Oct 1890).

The reason I ask is I have a Margaret Daily who married a Cullivan, and I found her death in the SSDI in Nov. 1974. Her last place of residence is the same as Walter's (Washington) so I wondered if she was his second wife. I do not know what her husband's name was, so I am grasping at straws.

Thank you,
Susan

Ken,
I just found a confirmation from "Information on the Daily Family from Louis Lundergan" (1940-1997) typed up by his son Gene.

Children of James Daily and Ethel Cunningham:
"Margaret: married Walter Cullivan and lived in Washington. No children."

Since this Margaret was born about 1903, I would say we have a match. Do you know what year they got married? What did Walter do for a living? I see he was a farmer in 1917 then a laborer at a shop in Washington, IN. But I cannot find him in the 1930 census. Do you know where they lived then?

This is personally interesting to me since I am a Cullivan who married a Daily, too.

Thanks!
Susan

It looks like my Cullivans are from Daviess County, Indiana, as well. My great-grandfather is Joseph Cullivan, born 1880 to Cornelius Cullivan, born 1856 and Bridget Cullivan, born 1859. I have not been able to locate the parents of Cornelius, all I know is they were both born in Ireland. I have come accross an Owen Cullivan, who married Bridget Smith from Ireland. I was wondering if Owen might be the father of Cornelius. Please email me with any information. We do not know much about our family and I am very interested. cullivan@email.com. Thank you!

Hello everyone, I am a descendent of Marshall Cullivan, Sr. and Lessie Simon Cullivan. They were my great-grandparents. I am the grandson of the Late Octavia Cullivan Jones daughter of Marshall and Lessie. The majority of our family resides in the Evangeline and St. Landry Parishes of Louisiana. Marshall and Lessie bore 12 children and they are now all deceased. On Labor Day Weekend of 2003. We, the descendants of Marshall and Lessie Cullivan are having our annual Family Reunion in Eunice, La. We are currently searching for more information on the Cullivan Origin and other members of the family. Since the Cullivan name is really unique and scarce, I hope to hear from someone concerning this wonderful and amazing family tree. We have lost track of some of the family members due to death, lost contact and the fact the the Cullivan name has been changed several times at the point of birth, marriage, or death. (Calvin, Carvin, Arclese, etc.) Please contact me ASAP. Thanks........
Brad Ceaser Jr. Great-Grandson of the Late Lessie and Marshall Cullivan, Sr.

Cullivan family in US

By 1904, my greatgrandfather, Thomas Cullivan was living here in Sacramento. He was born in 1847 somewhere in New Jersey. His father, James and his mother Mary Lynch, were from County Cavan and apparently emigrated sometime around 1843. James and Mary died in Norwalk, Ohio. I have not been able to learn anything more about siblings of Thomas, but there may have been other children born in Ohio.

Cullivan is a rare name, and almost always it means that the family came from Cavan. When I was there in May, our BB hostess told us that "Cullivans were thick on the ground" in Cavan. The Cemetary there had lots of Cullivans, but all in the 20th century. The local historians said that James and Mary's parents would not have had headstones because in the 19th century, being a laborer and Catholic in that area meant that you were just barely acknowledged to exist!

Cullivan family

Annette: You may be related to one of my great-uncles, Peter Cullivan or Thomas Cullivan. My great-grandfather, Thomas Cullivan was born in Norwalk, Ohio, June7, 1847. He and his wife, Mary Hogan Cullivan, came to Sacramento and had three boys and two girls. Peter was born March 12, 1877, Thomas was born July 16, 1884 and my grandfather, Joseph, was born November 8, 1886. The girls were named Mary and Agnes. I don't know what Peter and Thomas' children were named, but Suisun is very close to Sacramento, and Cullivan is not a common surname. Thomas' father, James Cullivan, was born in County Cavan, Ireland in 1844 and died in Norwalk, Ohio in 1888. James' wife, Mary Lynch, was also born in Cavan. We haven't been able to obtain any information about James' parents, but we are still looking!

There were at least four other children in addition to the children you listed - Frank (@1854), Cornelius (@1856), Bridget (@1859) and James ((@1861).

Owen died at the age of 91 in Davies County May 3, 1902. It is hard to decipher Briget's age. It differed in different census reports.

Weinmann's from Villingen, Germany

I have information regarding John and Krizensa (nee Auer) Weinmann who emigrated with three children from Villingen, Germany circa 1849 to the Over the Rhine area of Cincinnati, Ohio. Felix Weinman, aka Frederick Weinman, was their first child born in America. He was born in Cincinnati in 1850. Felix died in Hamilton, Ohio and is buried there with his wife Caroline Theiss at Greenwood Cemetery.

Before 1880 the family moved to Indianapolis, Indiana where many of the family lived, died and are buried. John and Krisenza Weinmann are buried at Crown Hill Cemetery with their children Anna Marie Schumann (Mrs. Frederick) John (Carrie Ferger), and Joseph (Ora India Tabor). Crown Hill has an online data base.

Son Herman Weinmann and his wife Mary Reiring are buried at St. Joseph's Cemetery in Indianpolis. Daughters Wilhelmina Yeakle (Mrs. Christian) and Bertha Oswald (Mrs. Charles) were cremated. Wilhelmina lived and died in Los Angeles and Bertha lived and died in Indianapolis.

I have extensive information regarding this family if anyone is interested. I would be pleased to hear from other researchers or descendants who have additional information.

I also have information regarding the Weinmann's who lived in Indianapolis and Hamilton, Ohio.

Martha's father was Owen Cullivan who was born in New York but lived in Indiana. She died at the age of 24 leaving two children whom I believe still live in Indianapolis.
