i am researching Robert Burdick b. 1635in england, who married Ruth Hubbard: they settled in RI, USA. I have collected some information that states his parents were samuel burdick(burdette) and frances
st Lawrence. His grandparents are shown to be Thomas burdick)burdette) and ann WILSON; Ann is shown to be a daughter of thomas wilson b.1525 and angnes wynter(winter). I am no documentation to verify this information and an eager to discover if this is correct and see if my line is connected to thomas wilson and anne cumberueth (cumberworth) who are supposed to be the parents of thomas wilson.

Hi Colin,
The email I have for you also does not work. A gentleman and I are in the process of working on the Cumberworths from the 1400 through the 1600. Sounds like we could be able to use some of your help. Iam also interested in hearing about your book. You are a second cousin to my mother Dorothy Cumberworth.
Regards,
Norm Gidcumb
npgidcumb18@bearlake-net.com

Good to hear from you. We have been busy so just found your reply now. I am trying to get all my pictures connected to my family tree so that I can put it on the web. Quite a chore. But I am enjoying all the old pictures.
Did the disks I sent you work. I am not sure my computer was set up correctly when we made those.

Judy

Hi Judy, Glad you received the book. I have not yet made the disks as I have been very busy catching up on home maintenance that was neglected for two years whilst writing the book! I hope that some time in the future I will find the time to re-investigate the people in the Billingborough/Great Hale wills etc. and try to establish their place in the 'family tree'. I must go to Lincoln again and look at the Parish Records from the earliest date (1538)- provided they have survived. As I had not heard from you I suspected that you may have replied to my old e.mail address. I am unable to receive anything from that one now. If you have any real concerns regarding the accuracy of my research please let me know and I will look at it again. Hope you are all in good health. Regards, Colin and Valerie.

Thanks for the reply.

I show she was the daughter of Roger Cumberworth of Cumberworth Manor. Possibly the grand or great grandaughter of Thomas Cumberworth. Strubby Manor, once held by Cumberworth, apparenlty went to Dr. Thomas Wilson, her son.

By 1571, Strubby MAnor had gone to Thomas Dale of Alford.

Do you have this info or should I give you more detail?

Please keep me in the loop for what you find regarding Ann Cumberworth. Dr. Thomas Wilson was a heavyweight under Queen Elizabeth and shared the post of secretary with Sir Francis Walsingham. I am interested because I am doing research on Governor Thomas Dale, and Strubby Manor was later in the lands of Thomas Dale(D1571) of Alford and his wife Anne Hamby Dale (D1578). I am interested how Strubby passed from the Wilsons to the Dales. I have more info on Wilson, but little on his father or mother.

Gosh I hope someone sees this...
I just started researching Cumberworths because of a living history group I'm in. I'm related to William Anthony and Mary Frances also! I only knew of two children - Ella and Mary Aletta (I have PHOTOS of both!). Ella married Lincoln Wheelock (in the late 1880s?), had three daughters Helen, Mary (b 1898) and Dorothy. Mary had two children, Griffith (b 1917?) and Mary Ellen (b 1924). Mary Ellen had two children, me (Holly) and my brother Timothy.

I am very interested in any dates and locations for the Cumberworth/Scrivens line. When did the family leave England, where in England did they come from, etc.

I'm also interested in the Wheelock line, and have gone back as far as Lincoln's grandparents.

All I know about Anne Cumberworth is that she was born abt. 1502 in Cumberworth, Lincoln, England and she married Thomas Wilson. They had a son named Thomas b. abt, 1525 who married Agnes Winter. The line gets more current from there but that is the only Cumberworth mentioned. Still, will share more with you if you're interested. Happy day!

Cumberworth-England

My grandfather, Theodore Cumberworth, said that the family came from England. Knottingham, I believe. There was even a story that Cumberworths came from or lived near a town called Porter-Cumberworth but it was destroyed in a war. The name originally was Porter-Cumberworth. But because of the length, the males were given the middle name of Porter, as to retain the entire name.
