CUMMING/COMYN Scotland
I have come across a newspaper article that belonged to my g.aunt, article was in Illinois Statge Register Newspaper, 1905 and hoping someone is also connected with this family.
Evidently, my Cumming family immigrated long before 1852, as we all have assumed. This is a picture of an old chair my aunt had, and which I remember very well as a kid. Article reads, in part:
The old fashioned piece of furniture is a dining-room chair, and the identical one in which the 'Father of his Country' sat as a guest at a dinner party at which the g.g.g. grandmother of the Bedells (aunts married name), whose name was Cumming, was hostess. The dinner was given in the colonial homestead of the Cummings family on Staten Island in the bay of New York."
Does anyone have a Cumming family connected with Staten Island back that far.
Thanks, Marilyn - Fla
