Four Cinningham Sisters

I am looking for these four sisters Lily b. 1861; Lennie b. 1863; Levelen b. 1867 and Ida b. 1871. This is how they are listed in the 1880 census with their half brother William Akin b. 1849 and his son Albert b. 1874. I have tried to find them in a 1870 census but I have had no luck. William and a wife I can't find in a 1870 census. Now in 1850 I find William with this father James E. Akin and mother, Mary age 21. In 1860 William is with his father and a sister named Lucy age 9. But they drop out of sight until 1880. I suppose Mary could have married a Cunningham but I can't make it work and James marrying again would mean she all ready had been married before and had the four girls. It's a puzzle and I need help.

I am doing family research and have not got too far on my mothers side. Her grandparents where Michael and Bridget (nee Hally) Cunningham born approx 1880s in the area of New Inn, Cahir, maybe Thurles area. All very vague. I came accross John Cunningham and thought maybe there is a connection?

I am a relative of John Cunningham VC. As far as I am aware he was not married. His brother Packie (Patrick) was killed in WW1 before JC and I believe his death caused JC to sign up and get revenge.Are you a relative?

Seems like this may be a long shot but I'm trying to track down information on my Great Grandmother - Willie Ann Cunningham. She was born in 1863, but I have three different locations for her birthplace. The reason I'm responding to your post is that I was told that she had a brother named Columbus Cunningham who was a Texas Ranger.

I am looking for information on my grandfather, George William Cunningham. He was born in the Kingstree, S.C. area in 1864. His mother was Carolina Cunningham, father unknown. He had a brother whose name is unknown and a sister by the name of Lellas. George moved to Jacksonville, Florida in about 1915 where he lived until his death in 1965. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Do anyone know who Robert James Cunningham married please.
Robert was born on 10 May 1807 at Prestonpans, East Lothian, Scotland.

Robert was the son of James Cunningham and Isabel/Elspeth/Elizabeth Plain

As far as I know Robert's Father James and his brothers were Fishermen. So I presume Robert was also a Fisherman or Seaman.

Hi - I have a Rebecca A CUNNINGHAM (b1857) in Monroe Cnty, OH in my tree. This is on the 1860 census. Father is William J Cunningham and mother is Mary (probably CONLEY). My ancestor is a child of William and Mary. This may have nothing to do with your Anne/Annie/Anna, but that could be the middle name for this Rebecca and the birthdate and state make it a possibility for you, remote though it may be! Sometimes they work out, though. Good luck.

I have a William J CUNNINGHAM, also living in Monroe, OH during this time period. According to census reports in 1850 and 1860, he was born abt 1827 in Ireland. He married Mary CONLEY before 1850 (her mother's first name was Elizabeth). So, he came over and made his way to Monroe sometime between 1827-1850 (presumably with his parents). Have you seen his name or any other Cunninhams born in Ireland in association with your Cunninghams in Monroe Cnty? Thanks!

I have a great-great Grandfather called James Cunningham who lived in Scotland. At some time after the 1880's but before the 1920's James moved to Liverpool. One of his sons called Sidney married a Sheffield woman called Annie Mabel Barringer and inherited a pickle factory which became very big in Sheffield until it had to be sold during the Great Depression. Cunningham Pickles can still be bought today, I hope this is your family, if it is not sorry I wasted your time.

I saw your reference to Purviance Cunningham, and wondered if you have dates of death for Purviance and Catherine.
Also do you have parents for both? I have Ruel Kelch and Catherine Cunningham as Catherine's parents and Adam Cunningham and Mary Ann Clevenger as Purviance's parents.
Just recently went back trying to untangle the Cunningham lines and just got dizzy.
I have Cunninghams in both my husband's lines and my father's lines. (Not direct lines but collateral)
Will gladly share what little I have on Purviance and Catherine. Have more details on some of the other families,

I lost him for a while and found him again. He married Mary Wood in Jefferson Co. Alabama in 1834. They later moved to Mississippi, Choctow Co and Pototoc County. where they lived many years. In 1859, they moved to Lincoln County, Arkansas. Mary, his wife, died in 1859 and he remarried a few years later. I think his father's name may have been JaMes and he may have had a younger brother, Rueben, born 1815. Thanks for any help. They show in the 1830 Jefferson Co federal census.

YOUNGSTOWN, OHIO – Mrs. Geneva L. Cunningham, 79, entered eternal rest on Tuesday, Oct. 6, 2009, at Humility of Mary Health Partners.

Mrs. Geneva Louise Cunningham, lovingly known as “GG” was born June 15, 1930, in Fairmont, W.Va., a daughter of Isiah and Willie Martin.

She had been employed as a Social Worker with Forum Health System, retiring after 25 years of service. She also worked 10 years at the Mahoning and Columbiana County Kidney Foundation, where she was involved in organizing the Youngstown Chapter.

She was a member of the New Bethel Baptist Church, the Education Committee, a former church clerk, secretary for the Grief Ministry, former member of the Board of Trustees, and served for several years as the Church Anniversary Chairman.

Geneva was a member and past Matron of Rising Sun Chapter No. 82 Order of Eastern Star, a member and past Illustrious Commandress of Al Asir No. 200, Daughters of Isis, a member and past treasurer of Iota PHI Lambda Society. She received an award from the Youngstown YWCA’s Annual Tribute to the Black Women’s Program and was also honored by the New Bethel Baptist Church for faithful service to the Education Department as well as numerous awards from various organizations.

She leaves to cherish her beloved memories, her husband of 35 years, William Cunningham; her daughter, Karen D. Smith of Cleveland; stepchildren, William Jr. of Houston, Sandra Cunningham of New York City and Beatrice Hines, Christopher Cunningham and Norma Cunningham, all of Youngstown; four brothers, Arthur (Bertha) Hill, Robert (Doris) Hill, Wesley (Ione) Hill and Nathaniel (Louisa) Hill; one granddaughter, Kellie (Emmanuel) Pouge; and two great-grandchildren, Kayla L. Talley and Emmanuel Y. Pouge Jr. of Cleveland, Ohio; and a host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends.

I am trying to find relatives of my great grandfather William Cunningham who was born in New York in 1864 to parents William Cunningham and Margaret Mahony. He was christened in St. James CHurch, James Street, New York. What we know is that William came back to Ireland in his early/mid 20's (i.e 1884). His parents were originally from Ireland. Any information would be helpful.

Cunningham Family Genealogy Forum>. As you will see in the forum, I don't quite have enough evidence to call it conclusive proof that the John Cunningham that died in the Revolution is the father of Sally, John, and James Cunningham, but it does look favorable. I strongly suspect a relationship between my Cunningham line, and the line of William Cunningham from Fauquier Co. Virginia, as there is documentation of business dealings involving both parties. You will also find links to the DNA project in the Forum. Look for postings by Mike Terry; project coordinator. My DNA results are posted in the Family Tree DNA project, and so far I show no close relationships with any of the other members of the project.
