With recent research I'm closer to connecting my line to earlier known Curetons in SC.
My ggg-grandfather John Cureton b. abt. 1814 m. 1839 in Talbot County, GA & appeared in the 1840 Talbot Co. census with Dickson, Green, James & Joseph B. Cureton, before John moved to Pike County, Alabama with his family in 1849. From the various census records, Dickson (or Dixon) appears to be about ten years older than John, so is not likely his father.
Dickson Cureton is the oldest of the Curetons mentioned in the 1830 & 1840 Talbot GA censuses. He m. Luraney Mitchell Bonner Cureton & is listed as a son of William Cureton & Margaret Crawl of Hancock County, GA by Thomas Kirk Cureton Jr.
Does anyone know what county Dickson & Luraney married or have information on the children's names of William Cureton & Margaret Crawl or Dickson Cureton & Luraney Bonner?
Finally, does anyone know who the parents are of John Cureton who was a sheriff of Monroe County, GA bet. 1822-24?
