His name was James Michael Curley

His father Michael was from a townland called Canrawer West just outside of the town of Oughterard in County Galway Ireland.
The Boston Public Library has a special collection of
material about him in the rare book department.

His autobiography is called "I'd do it again", Prentice Hall 1957

Just wondered if could be a connection. My gg grandfather was Edward Costello and as far as know he came from Athlone,Westmeath. He was born around 1830s I think.

I have an Ellen Curley married to Daniel O'Hearn b. 1796 Ireland Ireland...She is buried in St Pats Cem Garryowen, IA Parents of John Berton O'Hearn b. cork Ireland 1828..Do you think this might fit?????

Looking for family of Terrence Connolly and wife Ellen Curly from County Mayo, Ireland. Their children were: John, Margaret, Bridget, Winnie, Nellie, Patrick & Terrence. I know that Winnie, Nellie, Patrick & Terrence came to the United States. Terrence came to US in 1875. Margaret & Bridget married in Ireland, but I don't know if they came to the US. Does any of this sound familiar??

I am looking for information on the family (ancestors/descendants) of Michael Curly and Elizabeth Fay (Fahey, Fahy) (1842-1897). Their children, all born in Colnamanagh, Athlone, Roscommon, Ireland were:
James (1859), Mary Ann (1861), Michael (1863), Margaret (10 Apr 1865), John Joseph (1 Apr 1867), Francis (26 Feb 1869), Elizabeth (9 Dec 1871), Catherine (10 Nov 1874), Bridget (1877), Thomas (1879), Eleanor (Ellen, Helena, Nellie) (6 Sep 1881), and Rose (1884). Most of the children emigrated to the U.S.

I don't know if this is of any use to you because really do not know the story of the Curleys as far back as you want. We have Curleys in the Ballinasloe Area of e. Galway. Madden is also a Galway name. You might want to do some research in that area.

I got all excited then, as I realised I had an ancestor named Emily Proctor and my last name is Curley, thinking we were connected somehow, but the Proctors are on my grandmothers side and the curleys my grandfathers.

Mary Curly of Ireland

One of my ancestors was Mary Curly, born in the 1790's somewhere in Ireland. I expect she is a more remote ancestor than most of the Curly family members are interested in, but I would appreciate any information on her, such as her home county.
"My" Mary Curly married John Madden. One of their sons was also named John Madden, 1814-1871, who came to Milford, MA, during the famine. He and his wife, Mary (Raftery) Lally, 1817-1877, had a daughter Ann Madden, 1852-1925, in Milford, who was my great-grandmother. (And I, at age 71, have grandchildren of my own, so Mary Curly was about eight generations removed from them.)
