I was interested to hear of Rhoda Curr as I was born Sheila Mary Curr, my grandfather was Frederick Gowanlock Curr from Manchester. His father was David Curr from Scotland but we cannot find his descendants. It is such an unusual spelling. I was told he changed his surname from Kerr so as his father could not find him!
My Abram Norton and Rhoda Curr were born in New York and I found an Abram Norton with property in Cattaraugus, NY in 1832. I have not varified if this one married a Rhoda Curr,(1837 family Bible) but she was born there according to Daughter Mary Ann in a later census (1850). It appears she remarried, a Thomas Thoroughgood also from Cattaraugus , NY. I do not know what happened to Abram Norton. I would be interested in any possible connection to New York Nortons, or Nortons from other northeastern states who may have come to NY.

The children of Rufus Mariion Norton b. Ohio and Mary F. Gilbert b. Il. were Mabel E. b. July 1883 in Edgar Co IL. and James M. b. Oct 1887, Edgar Co. Ill. Her parents James and Louvania Gilbert (James b. England and Lovvania b. KY) lived to their 90's and I believe they raised the children. I have no Abram nor Rhoda Curr in my data base at the present time. Thank you for responding.

I am researching my Norton of Ohio family line. There seem to be a lot of lines in Ohio. I have a Rufus M. Norton m. a Mary Gilbert in Illinois. They married in Jan. 1887 in ILL. They had 2 children . Rufus died in 1891 in Ill and Mary died at age 32 in 1896. I am trying to learn who took the children. Her parents were really elderly, like Dad about 90 and she had 1 sister, don't think any of them took the little orphans. Perhaps they were raised by Rufus' family in Ohio ( Rufus b. in Seneca County.)

I am tracing a hemophilic line. Rhoda Curr ( d.17Aug 1877 ). md.Abram Norton (d. 9 March 1872)... According to a family bible.

They had a daughter, Mary Ann b.1847 (or 1841). I found Mary Ann Norton married (where?) to William W. Mann in a Delaware Cty, IA Census. She eventuually had 4 daughters, 2 in Delaware Cty, IA....Carrie b 1860 ... Lizzie b. 1871

They moved to Cairo,Nebraska and homesteaded. Alice b.?, and Lottie Louis (the hemophilic line?) b.1884. Lottie married Daniel Snyder 6 Mar 1901 in Cairo, Ne.,...Later she married an Orval Reynolds in Wyoming? Her daughter, Sadie b. 21 June1909 ,inCairo, had children by a "Red" Harris, in Nebraska (who died young, in Wyoming). Mary Ann had only one son, Norton b.5 Sept 1874 Cairo.

I would like to find Rhoda Curr and Abram Norton in Ohio , but would also be interested in other connections as well ...which Harris family, the Reynold's line, the Curr and the Norton line, and any leads on the hemophilia..we know it runs forward from Sadie's line.

I am new researcher and was adopted, as was my mother. Fortunately, we found my grandmother shortly before she passed away. I have been trying to find the Norton and Curr lines for a year without success ...any help would be appreciated.
