Thanks for the extra details. Of course, I'll let you know if I learn anything more about the people we have in common. One day I hope to find either a record of Mary (GRAY) FOULKES's death or of Sarah's marriage to Henry - which, I guess, took place in either Manhattan or Westchester.

Sorry, I only had the 1880 census entry containing Sarah. Sarah's birth record (from Brooklyn) would be at the NY Municipal Archives. The 1900 entry is fascinating in that it adds another daughter, Josephine, who is named after Matilda (Tillie) Hammond's mother, Josephine Emmet. I also didn't know Matilda had remarried. Richard C. M. Currey is buried with Matilda's parents James and Josephine Hammond in Mount Hope Cemetery in Hastings-on-Hudson, NY.

Darn! It figures.

In your research, have you come across anything more about Sarah? I found her with Henry FOULKES and her mother - who had remarried John BRIGHT, cigar maker - and their families all living in Harrison, NY, on the 1900 Census. But I haven't been able to move forward, only backward, and I'd like to know what became of Henry and Harriet FOULKES.

I have several pages of the book related to Cornelius M. Currey and Richard Channing Moore Currey. Richard's son Henry Channing Currey was my wife's great grandfather and your Sarah's brother. Portions of the book were copied for me by the Field Library in Peekskill, NY. The information related to Richard C. M. Currey is inaccurate in that it shows Richard's children as Mary and Amy with no mention of Henry or Sarah or a wife. Richard's wife was Matilda (Tillie) Teresa Hammond. They were married 1 November 1871. The marriage certificate shows Cornelius M. Currey as his father. Henry C. Currey was born 29 May 1874 according to his birth certificate and Sarah in April 1880 (1880 census for Brooklyn, NY).

The Currey Family in the Hudson Highlands

I wonder if anyone has a copy of "The Currey Family in the Hudson Highlands" handy. I'm trying to trace a tangential part of my family and thought this book might contain some useful details.

I'm hoping to learn more about the family of Cornelius M. CURREY (1808-1854), particularly his son Richard C. CURREY's daughter Sarah CURREY (born 1880). Sarah apparently married photographer Henry R. FOULKES (born 1859) in 1899.

Henry's first wife was Mary GRAY (c1859-?), my great-grandfather's sister. She died sometime before the 1900 Census. Henry and Mary had a daughter named Harriet FOULKES, born c1889.

I am interested in any information, stories, documentation you may have about Peter Curry/Currey born about 1740 in Ireland and coming to the US about 1762. If you have any documentation of the ship and port, etc I would greatly appreciate it. Any info about any of the descendants would be helpful.
Marie

Does anyone out there know if there is still a Currey Reunion being held either in, around, or close to, Harmony Grove, Taylor County ( or Goodhope Church in harrison County), West Virginia? Back in 1916, the Currey Reunion Committee was formed for annual Currey Reunions. If anyone has any information regarding a continued West Virginia Currey Reunion, please respond to this posting. There are a few of us watching these postings who are very interested in knowing if they continue.

Re: Currey or Curry in Schuylkill or Northumberland Co. PA?

I am seeking information on my g-grandmother Margaret or Maggie Curry/Currey b. Apr 1863 in PA.; d. 1935 in PA.

She was the daughter of John or James Curry/Currey of Mt. Laffee in Schuylkill County, PA (according to her death certificate) and Mary Curry/Currey (maiden name unknown). Her parents were both born in Ireland. The James/John and Mary Curry/Currey family may have lived in the Philadelphia area for a while before moving to Schuylkill County. I do not have information on other family members except that there was probably a daughter named Anna or Annie. There may have been a son named Patrick.

Maggie Curry/Currie married Peter Jack in 1878 in Shamokin, PA. They had the following seven children:

Mary Jack b. 1880 in Shamokin; d. before 1990.

Unknown Jack b. after 1881; d. before 1990.

Margaret Jack b. between 1884 - 1888 in Shamokin; d. 1955 in PA.

John Joseph Jack b. 12 Aug 1886 in Shamokin; d. after 1942. M. Anna ??? in 1926.

Mary C. (Mame) Jack b. 27 Aug 1889 in Shamokin; d. 15 Mar 1982 Shamokin; m. Frank Joseph Manley on 06 Feb 1918 in Shamokin. They had four children: Francis Jack, Lorraine, Patricia Anne, and Helene Manley. The family lived in Shamokin.

Frank L. Jack b. 27 Aug 1891 in Shamokin; d. Jan 1973 in Shamokin. Frank m. Elizabeth Marquette in 1932 in Shamokin. There were no children. Frank was a successful businessman and may have owned a bar or liquor distributorship.

Edward A. Jack b. 12 Sep 1893; d. 1941 in Shamokin.

The family members were Roman Catholic. Maggie Curry/Currey was said to be a cook for the Molly Maguires as a teenager/young woman. Several family members are buried in St. Edwards in Shamokin. One of Maggie's parents may have been from an Irish "Traveler" family.

I would be interested in any information on any of these people.
I haven't seen anything on the reunion in years. The last one I went to was in 1988 or so. I know they had several after that because my Grandfather (Romulus Lawler) wouldn't miss one for the world. I think they were always on the last Sunday in August. If I see any correspondance I will let you know.

The reunion was held at Harmony Grove Baptist Church.

Hello, I am looking for any information someone might have on Agernon and Martha Currey. They complete their 1870 Census in Gibson County, Tennessee. They had 7 children. I can't make out all of the names on the census, but the ones I have found are: Robert B, Minnie, Grace and Cary (male). Cary Currey was my great grandfater. If you have any information on this line, please email me at BrandonCurrey@bellsouth.net.

Thanks!!

Debbie,
I do not have a direct link to the Cornells, my family line is through Beatrice Curry's sister Clara Curry-Kublic. I do have extensive information on the Curry line if you should need any help with that. You can e-mail me directly at: skmann21@hotmail.com - Subject Line: Curry Information. A lot of the information posted in the family tree section has been botched up also there have been a lot of breakthroughs that I am not listing or sharing on the public family tree section.

Sincerely,
Sheila Mann

I am the third oldest son of Jesse R. McClaughry. I have six siblings. His mother's name was Olga and he was named after his father. Yes, the dates are correct as to the year they passed. I know my grandfather is buried at Memorial Cemetery in Evanston. My father had several siblings too. To name a few..........George, Myrtle, Shirley, Betty, Hazel, James, Gayle, Frances, Marie, Earl and Andrew. I know Andrew was the oldest. He was a funny guy. Aunt Myrt, Uncle Earl and Aunt Marie are the only ones alive now. I had a picture of my dad, Uncle Gayle and Uncle Andrew and they looked like triplets! I can't find that picture now, but I remember the day I took it at our family picnic some time ago. I also had a picture of grandfather too. Aunt Shirley died when I was young and so did Aunt Hazel. She married a Smolinski. They had six kids. I don't remember Aunt Frances so much. My father really didn't talk about his side of the family too much.
I recommend that you try to contact Carol Henn. She and my son talked to her some time ago and found out a whole lot of information. She was looking into the family tree and all. She's at carolhenn@yahoo.com..
Regards,
Tom

Hello,
My grandmother's name was Olga on my father's side. My fathers name was Jesse R. McClaughry. He had thirteen brothers and sisters. Some of them are still living. My aunt Marie is the youngest and is still alive. I am the third oldest in my family of seven.
Yes, this is true that there is a park named after the McClaughry's in Palos Park. They came to this area some time ago. From there they went to Blue Island and then settled in Evanston. My grandfather is buried in Memorial Cemetery in Evanston. I met Carol Henn (who I think is my second cousin) and we talked for hours. I believe she has spoken to my cousin Vera.(she is the daughter of Sonny/Betty (McClaughry)Lindermann.
Wow, there is much more to this....... If you could get in contact with Carol, she could fill in some of her findings too. Yes, we do go back to Longford, Ireland.
