An update on "Rennie", if you're still looking. You can see most of this on or from my family history web site at
http://www.cushings.com/roots/ . Select Cushing from the menu to see the overall history. Rennie is just a mention there, since he's not my direct line ancestor. Also from the menu, select Family Trees, then My Family to visit my family tree. For a name, enter Cushing, Kieran. Kieran Vincent Cushing is the name entered in the baptismal records at St. Mary's church in Portage. I have no idea where Walter and Rennie came from. In 1897 he married Kate Keating Lario. They moved to Chicago, where Walter worked for railroads. They had two daughters, Alice (I think)(1902) and Catherine (1906). For a while, Kate's son by her first marriage, Edward (b. 1888 in Michigan), also lived with them. They may have split up sometime after 1910. On Walter's WW2 draft registration card, his address is listed as St. Paul, MN and his closest living relative is Mrs. Catherine Cushing in Milwaukee. In 1920, he's a hardware salesman living with his parents in Fort Winnebago. I couldn't find Kate in the 1920 census. There is a 13 year old Catherine Cushing at St. Mary's Training school outside of Chicago in 1920, which I think is likely their daughter. I could't find Alice. Kate passed away in Chicago on 16 Oct 1925 and is buried in St. Joseph's Cemetery, though I'm not sure which one. Judging from mentions in obituaries, Walter apparently passed away sometime between 1939 and 1944. (In 1938, his father passed away leaving 14 surviving children - i.e., all of them. If accurate, Walter was still living then. In 1944, he is referred to as "the late Walter".)
