Anything is appreciated, whether correct or not. It's all a learning process! The thing that bothers me/us, is that in all of the Boone family genealogy, no one has ever turned up the marriage of Mary Boone to Ben Cutbirth before. Possible, but unlikely. The only marriage for a Mary Boone of George Boone, is a "possible" marriage to a Thomas Hope, but even that is sketchy.

Thanks again!

I'm trying to contact a family member that is much more reliable than me on this matter .... this would be a part of the family tree that "I just don't know with great confidence" to be 100% acuarate.

but on my ancestry tree (however it was imported or connected by someone else) it shows up that Ben Cutbirth's parents names (that married Eliz. Wilcoxon - Daniel Boone's neice) were, as you were asking, Benjamin Cutbirth and Mary Boone .... no dates are attached.

If I'm able to find something more reliable I will let you know. My dad (now deceased) was really up on some of this and may have been the one to make this connection.

sorry to get you excited - if this turns out to be wrong.

many thanks for your response
Nathan Graybeal
Emory, VA
nathangraybeal7@hotmail.com
Nathan,

Are you saying, that
Benjamin Cubirth (1740-1817) father of:
Daniel Boone Cutbirth Sr,
Benjamin Jr,
Mary,
Sarah

who was married to Daniel Boone's niece, Elizabeth Wilcockson (1749- aft 1818) is the son of Ben Cubirth and someone named Mary Boone?

If so, could you please enlighten us to this information, and how/where you obtained it? No one has had definitive ancestry for Ben (1748-1817) before this information.

Thanks and regards,

Jim Cochran
jimeco @ juno .com
Springfield MO

If you go to LB look to the left as you enter the cemetery and you should be able to spot it. Martha's brothers left Greene County and I've tracked most of them to various places from Wisconsin to Texas so some got up and moved around. Let me know if you want any of that info.

Most of my family settled in the counties South of Springfield/Greene Co MO, where we are still today. I told mom, her family squatted here in the Civil War, and never got back up!
I have obtained copies of documents from Alfred's Civil War Pension file. Included is a Questions Circular that contains the dob of children living at the time it was completed by Alfred. The dob given for "Marthy" matches the dob on Martha Cutbirth's death certificate. The DC lists her father as Alfred Danley and mother as unknown. Her birthplace and names of siblings matches the census records for Alfred and Mary Danley so I am quite certain that this is the right family. Alfred and Mary are buried in the Liberty Baptist Cemetery north of Springfield, Missouri. I will be glad to share my information.

Here is the transcription of the questions.

Certificate No. 498255
Name Alfred Danley

First. Are you married? If so, please state your wife’s full name ande her maiden name.
Answer. Yes. Mary Buckland

Second. When, where and by whom were you married?
Answer. 24 of Nov 1842 in Ray Co. Tenn by Isaac Benson, JP

Third. What record of marriage exists?
Answer. Recorded in Washington County seat. of Ray Tenn

Fourth. Were you previously married? If so, please state the name of your former wife and the date and place of her death or divorce.
Answer. ________________.

Fifth. Have you any children living? If so, please state their names and the date of their birth.
Answer.
Missouri death certificate of Martha Cutbirth states that her maiden name was Danley. Some have her listed as Martha Dannely and she was listed in one census as Dannely Cutbirth. I believe that she is my grandaunt Martha Ann R. Danley and she married Willis Ervin Cutbirth about 1871 in Missouri. I am descended from her brother Thomas Jefferson Danley.

Hi Jim! Wanted to let anyone that pass by know that in addition to Jim Cochran's great Outonalimb webpage with Cutbirth info, he has put together a great Cutbirth research tool with a Cutbirth email group. The address is: http://www.egroups.com/list/cutbirth or email us at cutbirth@egroups.com and ask to join. We know that all Cutbirth/Cutberth/Cutburth surnames lead back to Benjamin Cutbirth, Sr but we are finding out more and more about the family by all of us connecting and sharing info.

I am from the Daniel Boone line s.o. Benjamin Cutbirth and Elizabeth Wilcoxson (niece of Daniel Boone). I am searching for answers about Benjamin's parents. We know his father died when he was young and his mother remarried. Thus he set out on his own. His name changed many times starting out as Cutbeard. It is said that he was born in Augusa Co, VA. or maybe central PA. Also interested in any other Cutbirths that might be out there.
Mr. Cochran,

My name is Don Howell and my 4th-great-grandfather was Daniel C. Howell who was a brother to Major C. Howell of Giles & Maury Co.,TN. I've heard through the family that there was a member of Daniel Boone's buried in the Old Howell Cemetery. My question is does the Cutbirth's connect to the Howell's? I know that Daniel C. b. 1812 and brother Major C. Howell b. August 20, 1799 where both born in N.C., but have never been able to connect to anyone back there.
Travis and Barbara,

I have a Samuel Carter in my line born about 1847 in Pontotoc County Mississippi. I'm trying to connect him to the Samuel Carter that married Mary Overcash in same county in 1867. Have you found anything more on your Samuel that might help?

Jeff D Carter
