I like to untangle family mysteries, but this one has been a real corker. The 1910 census for Salina, Saline Co., Kansas, lists Emily M. Cutler, age 19, who was born in Illinois (approx 1890/1891). I can not find her at all in the 1900 census. In 1910, she was living with her married cousin, James Alexander Gordon (b-1883/4) also born in Illinois. Allegedly, Gordon was not his true name, and relatives suspect that his actual birth name may have been Cutler. Somewhere in here comes a step-mother, and complicating matters, he died in 1918 in France. Key to solving this will probably be tracking back through Emily, but I can't find her past this 1910 census. She apparently either died, or married.
