i never questioned this until you brought it up! i really don't know for sure. i don't know why i assumed it was the older man she married. in the scioto co marriages book (1803 - 1860) it has these listings:
Fitch, Elias Jr. and Margaret Finney witness elias fitch 12-6-1843
Fitch, Elias and Elizabeth Cutshaw 9-27-1851
i think that i assumed since there were no witnesses listed that this elias was SR. but since it could have been a second marriage, then that could be why too. thanks for bringing this to my attention.
another thing, there was a mary fitch born to an elias fitch in greenup co ky on 12-10-1858. no mother listed.
please let me know if you find anything out.
elias jr died 6-11-1857 according to ann's Bible, but i don't know where.
