The Cutts line that I research also settled in northern Illinois and southeastern Wisconsin in the Beloit and Janesville areas. Specific towns and approximate dates were:
Abbie Mary Cutts b. bet 1849-1850 Maine, USA [1880 Census] m. Dwight Ripley Wheeler d. 11 Jul 1911 perhaps Rockford, Winnebago County, Illinois (Rockford is just south, across the state border from Beloit, Wisconsin)
Samuel Cutts b. 21 Oct 1798 New Portland, Somerset (or Cumberland Countyy, Maine, USA m. Dolly Bray 26 Dec 1823 New Portland, Somerset (or Cumberland Countyy, Maine d. 28 Dec 1865 Beloit, Rock County, Wisconsin bur. 1865 Beloit, Rock County, Wisconsin
Thomas Cutts b. bet 1825-1828 New Portland, Somerset County, Maine, USA m. Mary Victoria Elliott New Portland, Somerset County, Maine d. 6 Apr 1875 Beloit, Rock County, Wisconsin bur. 6 Apr 1875 Beloit, Rock County, Wisconsin
Lenora ("Nora") L. Cutts b. 1856 Beloit, Rock County, Wisconsin, USA m. Horace Jackson Hendee 5 Nov 1784 Beloit, Wisconsin by Edward D. Savage, Doctor of Baptist Church Beloit, Wisconsin (witnesses: Eli Barkley & A. S. Fisher)
Nettie Cutts b. 1859 Beloit, Rock County, Wisconsin, USA m. George Gayton d. 20 May 1944
Sam T. Cutts b. 1860 Beloit, Rock County, Wisconsin, USA m. Lillian ___ d. 2 Oct 1930 Occupation: Had an ice cream parlor in Beloit, Wisconsin right near the Rock River
The direct ancestors of this Cutts family were among the first settlers of the territory of the Massachusetts Bay Colony that would later become the state of Maine. They arrived in the new world, probably from the area near Bath, Somersetshire, England around the year 1650.
Send me your information on your Cutts relatives. I have extensive information on the family including one branch that lived in the White House in Washington D.C. for a while.
