My dad was Leslie Ernest Cutts, son of John and Anna Fleming Cutts

Ihave a William Herman Cutts born 1895 Tennessee married Hattie Caldwell about 1921. His parents were John Cutts born about 1873/4 married Christina Asmus. His father was Laton or Lotan Cutte born 1845. Any relation to yours.

I will have to check some other records. Do you know if any of these Cutts' came from Northern Illinois? My ancestors came from that area and I know this for certain. Might you know which towns in England that they came from? What information do you have access to.

The Cutts line that I research also settled in northern Illinois and southeastern Wisconsin in the Beloit and Janesville areas. Specific towns and approximate dates were:

The direct ancestors of this Cutts family were among the first settlers of the territory of the Massachusetts Bay Colony that would later become the state of Maine. They arrived in the new world, probably from the area near Bath, Somersetshire, England around the year 1650.

Dear All,

I am trying to find the family of my great, great grandfather Henry Twells Cutts, born c.1870 as a USA British Subject in Chicago area, and died in Liverpool, England, in c.1949. His father, as did he, worked for the shipping company Cunard, based in Liverpool, which led to him working in Chicago, USA. Henry Twells Cutts was rescued from the Great Fire of Chicago in 1871 as 'a babe in arms'. There is now a gap of 30 years or so til the next bit of information my family know; in the 1901 UK Census he is aged 31, working as a steam ship wharfinger for Cunard Shipping, married to Anne, also aged 31 yrs, living in 3 Cedar Street, Bootle, Liverpool, United Kingdom, with 3 children; Henry (Harry) Allard Cutts, born 1892, Zoe Cutts, born 1894, and Edward Cutts, born 1900. Edward is my great grandfather.

Henry Twells Cutts remarried an american lady after his first wife, Anne, died in 1912. This is as far as we can trace back! Please get in touch if you have any information about his parents, or his family.

I reply because the geography suggests a possible link to Rebecca Jane Cutts, dau of John and Mary Roe Cutts. Rebecca Jane (Jennie) Cutts was b. Dec. 22, 1851, Michigan, and married Newell Loban with whom she raised her family in Iowa. I have sources and files on Jennie's ancestry, but they do not include sibs other than R.T. Cutts b. 1852 and Harriet b. 1855. Newell Loban's father Thomas lived in N. Illinois.
