Steve; recently I came accross a new book titled Hero of The Republic, James Madison Cutts. I am his cousin. His father and my great grandfather were brothers.The book states that my family is descended from Richard Cutts Esq of Grondale Abbey Arkeden, Essex.Richard supported Cromwell and encouraged his sons to go to America . In 1646 they settled in Strawberry Bank a section of New Hampshire. Later a brother Robert who is my relative and sister Anne came to America and he died a wealthy man in Kittery ME. I am ninth generation from Robert.
