From what I have been able to gather the name Cyphers is of German descent. There were Cyphers' in Texas and I believe they came up from Alabama or Mississippi. I have found information for my great grandfather Sam Cyphers, Syphus,Siphers,Cyphus,Ciphers and my great grandmother Emily, she was an Ellison when she married GGF Sam they were together for 10 yrs, children names Sam, Annie, Queen Walker, James Wallace, Joseph.
