Cypress Family - Norfolk/Wakefield, VA

I've been able to trace back to my Great Grandfather who hailed from Norfolk, VA - Howard Cypress. I've hit a brick wall and was hoping someone was also tracing the same family and might be able to shed more light.

Are you cousin Donna Cliff Cypresses daughter? Yes they are in cape charles, Surry County and Mecklenburg County. Listed as free malattos as far back as 1830. I am trying to prove they are Indian.

Hello, this is for both Andrea & Leticia,

I am a Villescas, but I do have realtions that spell the surname ending with a "Z", as well.

It's been awhile since either have posted from the dates shown, but maybe you will surf by once again and see this, hopefully so.

Hello,

as you see my surname is Zypress and i would know more about its history. I come from Germany. My father was born in Berlin/Germany. we can only follow the history of the name till 1880 cause of the burning of the church books because of the world war II.
Can you help me?

The family name I'm following in the States is SIPRESS. In our family it arrived in 1880 from Frankurt am Oder, (which is now in Brandenberg, Germany) with KARL LUDWIG ZIPRSZ, his wife WILHELMINA PODROWSKI and their 5 kids.

He claimed to have been born in Prussia and renounced allegiance to the Emperor of Germany.

There are many names that came out similar to this when the people "americanized" them: CYPRYS, CiPress, CYPRESS, ZIPRESS, ZIPRIS, ZYPRESS, SYPRESS, TSIPRIS, to mention a few.

Do you know where your name came from? Or, do you know of other families who came here with the same, or similar, names?

I'm just beginning a search of my father's history.We only know of his intermediate family and would love to know who the rest of us are. I do not know of any relatives in South Carolina. However, I am extremely curious being that the name is fairly rare. Any answers?
