MADAWASKA - John R. Cyr, 54, died unexpectedly April 3, 2009, in Van Buren. John was born Sept. 21, 1954, in Madawaska, the son of Henry J. Cyr and Yvette (Carrier) Cyr. John graduated from Madawaska High School in 1973. He served proudly and with honor in the U.S. Army. He had a distinguished and enjoyable career as a forester and carpenter for many years. John enjoyed spending most of his time fishing, hunting and sitting by his outdoor fireplace. John is survived by his stepdaughter, Sharon Levesque and fiance', Jeff Rossignol, of Van Buren; son, Tobey Cyr; daughter, Riva Cyr of Madawaska; grandson, Erik of Van Buren; sisters, Joan Roshella of Florida and Doris Sirois of Madawaska; many other dear friends and family members. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 15, at St. Thomas Aquinas Church, Madawaska. At the wish of John and his family, there will be no viewing. Interment will be later in the spring at St. David Parish Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations towards funeral expenses will be accepted and greatly appreciated.
