Hi, hope you are still on line. I have Julia Czaja b. 13 Feb 1904 married to Clemence Winkler b. 24 Dec 1892. They lived in Temperance Michigan (just north of Toledo, Ohio. Julia d. 5 Nov 1960. They had 9 children that I have on a Genealogy Pedigree chart from another person. They were: August, Frank, Stanley, Clemence Jr., Joseph, Dan, Roseanne, Bernadette, Frances. Her father was Jacob Czaja b. 26 May 1881, d. 18 Jan 1937 m1 to Dora/Victoria Cholewinski.

I can copy the chart and send it to you if you send me a snail mail address. It includes their grandchildren and great-grandchildren also.

I worked with her many years ago in Berkeley, Calif at a nursery school. She then moved to the Mariposa area, and I lost track of her. She went by the nickname Stevie. If any current info has been found, I would be interested to re-contact her.

Has anyone come across any information regarding Stanislaw CZAJA and Katherine NOGA. They were married and produced a son, Jan CZAJA born 1908. Stanislaw died in poland and Katherine remarried, having more children. (Married name unknown) Jan emmigrated to Canada when he was 17 or 18 yrs of age, circa 1926. He told us he was from Zaborow, but I find there are many places in Poland called Zaborow. Has anyone found any web pages that could provide some church/parish information? My grandfather - Jan (John) was roman catholic. Thanks!

Your message is several years old, and I cannot translate German -- except for a few words. I cannot help with Czaja, but am interested in Emma Strycek. Part of my family is named Strycharz. What do you know about Emma? Could she have come from Poland?

One ancestor Zofia Strycharz married a Czaja c. 1842. Your names are not familiar.

Anything interesting you found out on your family or maybe relatives? I have since more information on my family.
My grandfather Stanislaus Czaja was born in Szopa (Schoppe)near Gdansk. His father's name was Leo Czaja and his mother was Monika Zloch.

Does anyone have any Czaja's who lived in PA? I am looking for information on a Tekla or Teckla (the way she spelled it after she came to the US) Czaja, she married Stanislaw Wojnarowski in Erie, Penn. If you are from this family I would like to know where the family is from in poland and what city. Stanislaw Wojnarowski was from Brzeziny Poland east of Krakow. Were these Czaja's from the same area? She is rumored to have family in chicago area as well.

My brother Jim Czaja posted something in 2001. Our father was Stanley Felix Czaja from Batavia. His parents (our grandparents) were Walter & Stella Mislick (Myslinski) Czaja. My grandfather Walter was born in Moodus, CT - so I believe we're all from the same family! I would absolutely love to gather more information about everyone in our family.

CZAJA is indeed a Kaschube (? not sure of spelling) name. My father was born in the GDANSK area on 22nd Feb 1927. I still have a number of relatives living there and in SOPOT. My brother and 2 sisters will be visiting them in September so I'm hoping to have more info later this year. I'll keep you posted.

Hi also looking for Czaja from Gdansk region. Probably a different family. I was wondering if Czaja is a Kaschube name and note that your family was.
my grandfather was born Stanislaus Czaja May 06, 1909 in Schoppa, current day Szopa. They moved to Dortmund Germany with parents and siblings between 1909 and 1915. Thats all that I know.

I saw your posting on ancestry. I am yet another of the Czaja clan. Your husbands Grandparents were my Aunt and Uncle. I am Florian's oldest daughter.
I remember Aunt Blanche and Uncle Tony very well. I have some of the dates if you are interested. I have been helping to clean out my Dad's house. It's a very long story there. But to make it short he passed away on June 19, 2001 and up until January my sister was still living there. She got evicted and just left everything. So I have been helping the woman who bought the house clean it out and retrieving some of the old family pictures and things. I recently came across a picture of Blanche holding cousin Elizabeth. It was taken in about 1951.
I was talking with cousin Louise recently. She was telling me that Eva Floryan can be traced back to Catharine the Great. I am hoping to have lunch with her soon and try to put the pieces together.

I have a great-grandfather, Francisko Czaja, who was born in Poland in 1848. I do not know much about his history except that he was in the United States by 1918-1920 and had two wives. First wife lived in Poland, Catherine Szezuryk. Second wife lived in U.S., Catherine Mika. He had at least 6 children that I know of. Maybe your great-grandfather is related to mine . . .

I found your listing in ancestry.com asking of Felix Czaja in Moodus.
I am 33 yrs old.
My mother, Mary, along with my aunt, Elizabeth, were the daughters of John and Eva Czaja of MOodus, CT.
They two are my grandparents.
John Czaja was the son of Felix Czaja.

I aked my aunt Elizabeth if she knew anyinformation you asked about in your posting.

Hello, I just happened to find your posting - you may have already found the information you're looking for.

My grandmother, Julia Czaja was born in Rzeszow Poland late 1890s, moved to US and married Stephen Warzecha. They moved to Buffalo from Masachusetts where they raised three daughters. My grandmother started the Warzecha School of Dressmaking in Buffalo, which the family ran for over 50 years. She died in 1988. I'm the eldest daughter of her middle child Jane. I don't recall ever meeting any other Czaja's when growing up in Buffalo though.

Hope this information is of help - would be interested to hear what else you've learned about the family in the Buffalo area.

my great-grandfather Jakob Czaja was born 1849/1850 in Kadlub Wolny. He died in 1918 in Königshütte. His parents Wojtek and Hedwig Czaja, born Blasczyk, died both in Kadlub Wolny.
Any connections between our ancestors?

Need help with names that could have been anglicized at Ellis Island.I have used all their derivations an added my own,nothing comes up. My mothers parents came superbly an were married here in Massachusetts.G-mother is listed on marriage certificate as Annie Kczaszaz by astute French priest. She is listed as bp-1886 Bzostek Austria, he as bp-1888 Wiskupale Austria, married Douglas MA 1908. My mothers bp says both come from Poland. Julia was a nun with the Holy Family of Nazareth in Chicago - where she was born. Her parents were John Czaja and Mary Kitowska. Any additional information would be great!

James The Florian in Batavia was Named after my Dad who I believe was his Uncle? I believe Walter was a brother to my Dad. Very confusing because I believe Felix was Married 2 times. My Dad,Florian passed asway June 19,2001 at age of 77. he was the last of the siblings as he was the "Baby".

I am looking for information about my grandfather, Michael Nowicki. His mother was Annie Czaja and his father was George Nowicki. Michael came to the US in April 1912 on the Neckar. He traveled with some of his mother's relatives (Ignacz, Stanislaw, and Woyriech Czaja). Based on ship manifest information, some of his shipmates went to Buffalo, NY, while my grandfather went on to Chicago.

Does any of this information connect into your family lines?

We have had a family tree done and I think there is a lot of information on the McGuires and some on the Czajas. Where did these people live? I just got obituaries for my husband's great grandparents. There is a Julia Czaja and a Kathryn Brockman listed. These could be the ones requested.

My grandfather was born in Tarnow, Poland, April 7, 1894. He came through Warsaw to Germany and to New York about 1910. He was met by his brother Louie who was already living in Canada. He had a brother Joseph in Batavia, NY who was a painter and wall paperer. Joseph had changed his name to Chaya. His sister Mary was older and married a Wozniak.
