dear darlene,
i have read your posting on ancestry.com about the czajkowski's and horodyski's from luka, ukraine...
quite interesting because both of these names cross in blood relation in my history as well. my great grandmother was maria czajkowsk(a)i and was born in 1870 and died in 1917 in luka, ukraine. my great-great grandmother was rosalia czajkowsk(a)i from luka, ukraine. her parents were lukash (?-it is hard to read because it was handwritten) czajkowski (b. 1776-d. 1850) and Maria Bilinski-Czajkowski also from luka, ukraine. is there anyone in your family with these names (either direct links or ggaunts or uncles)? at what point did the horodyski-czajkowski come together? what was the first horodyski name that you can trace and what were his relative's names. obviously it is between the mid to late 19th century...
i have also in the family a nicolas/nikolai/mykola horodyski who was born in 1877...he lived around the turn of the century. but i don't know if he had any siblings! his father was john/ivan, johannes horodyski who was born in 1851.
the horodyski clan were segregated into several sub clans; abramowicz, bratko, horodyszcza, jadwiczak, kamatiak, maciejczak (from which my family comes from), onanczyc, prokopiak, puchacz, and zurawel. be careful with just looking for horodyski only. find out which sub-grouping you are from because one horodysky from one clan may not be related to another in other "clans"...hope i didn't complicate things for you!
could you help?
