Wish I could be more helpful but the given name Eleanor didn't seem to be that common in the records od Laka and Bilina I viewed. Being that Sambor is 12 -13 miles west of these villages perhaps a branch of these families ended up there at a later date. Although not in your time frame of birth for Eleanor, I will list what I did find.
1. Eleonora b. Dec. 8, 1883 house 236 Laka father: Nicolaus Czajkowski Trunko s/o Gregori Czajkowski and Anna Bilinska mother: Anna d/o Michaelis Winnicki & Maria Bilinska
2. Eleonora daughter of Mathei & Maria Czajkowski Trunko had a son Michael b. July 3, 1890 house # 219 Laka. Eleonora was the wife of Joannes Bilinski Tarasowicz.
3. Elenora d/o Georgii Czajkowski & Joanna Tobaczynska had a son, Leon born Mar. 26, 1888 house # 109 Laka. Elenora was the wife of Josephus Popiel.
Sorry I couldn't help more.

Looking for ancestry for my nephew Christopher Romanyk. His paternal grandmother is Lewka (Eleanor) Czajkowski (not sure of the spelling) born in Sambor on June 5, 1904. She was born Austrian (Gallice ?) and changed nationality to Polish before she left the Ukraine - She was definitely always and forever Ukrainian. She emigrated to Toronto and married George (Yurko) Romanyk. We have no record of her parentage. She had blue eyes, black hair. Greek Catholic and was one of 5 or 6 brothers and sisters.

I am researching my grandmother's family and looking for help. The 1900 census for Cook County Illinois lists this family: Frank Czajkowski, father, John, son, Maryan and mary, daughters(grown children). I know, also, that there was another son, Louis, living in DesPlaines with his young family. Katie was Frank's wife's name, but I can't seem to findout what happened to her. Mary was my grandmother. Louis and his father came to Cook County in 1885. The other children came in 1990. Anyone recognize these names?

I can't make a Connecticut connection with my Czajkowski family at present but have found this and wonder if it could be your Ignacious. Kronprincessin Cecile: Bremen - NY April 15, 1914 List 28 #1 Czajkowski, Ignacy 35 years Ruthenian last residence: Dublany, Galicy nearest relative: wife - Marya going to: 211 Heys(Hayes) St. Chester, PA to brother: Nikolaj Czajkowski listed as in US 1909/1913 in Chester, PA
There is no family documentation of any siblings for my grandfather who definitely was the Nikolaj this Ignacy was going to as the next four passengers were my gr grandparents (Czolowski/Czulowski) and two of their daughters going to the same Nikolaj their son-in-law. Parents to Nikolaj were supposedly Pawel and Anna Horodyski Czajkowski. My grandfather was supposedly born in Luka/Laka or Dublany (Galicia -now Ukraine) Sambor raion ca 1890-1892 (actual birth date is in question as I have found dates anywhere between 1884-1892??) Do you suppose there could be a connection with this Ignacy and your gr grandfather? Also have passenger list info on an Antoni Czajkowski going to uncle John Terryville, Conn. 1909; Marianna to Stanislaw in Torrington, Conn. 1914, and Stanislaw who was in Bridgeport, Conn. 1907/1912 if you are interested.

My Great Grandmother was Mary Czajkowska (female version of name), she married a Michael Kaliszewski in Poland. One of their sons, Stanislaw (Stanley) was born in Poland in 1881 and immigrated to Cleveland. It was tradition for a son to go to the USA, make money and bring his family over. So maybe there's a connection?

They ended in southern Illinois, where there are a lot of other Czajkowski's.
Czajkowski family

I'm looking for information on my family---Czajkowski. My great grandfather, Stanislaw Czajkowski emigrated to the US in 1909. He entered through Philadelphia PA. Originally he was from Grzymalov, Galicia Poland, (Now Grimaylov, Ukraine), near Skalat. His wife was Frances Siorek (of Miechow, Poland) they had 5 children. In 1910 they were in Cleveland, Ohio, where the family remained. I'm not sure when he married or if he was already married when he came to the US. Stanley's parents were Mikal Sophie (Furtoch) Czajkowski, also of Grzymalow. They also came to the US around 1914. I'm looking for info on the town Grzymalow as well tracing the family farther back into their native land. I'd appreciate any info on the Czajkowski family.

My Czajkowski's settled in Southern Illinois, but I know when they came to the U.S. in the late 1800's the family went to Chicago first. Some relatives remained there, while some travelled south.

Hi,
I am searching for the ancestors of my husband who was given up for adoption in 1967. His mother was Maria Chaikovsky, who we believe was the daughter of Alexander Czajkowski (also went by Chaykovsky and Chaikovsky). Alexander was the son of Ixob (jakob) Czajkowski and Maria Zawadska. Alexander was born in Poland on August 14, 1908. He died in FL in 1980. Alexander had two sons from a marriage in Poland, his wife passed away and he re-married and had a daughter (Maria) born in Germany in 1945 and a son, also born in Germany, in 1948. They emmigrated from the Ukraine (Poland) to Germany and then to Boston in 1948. After that I beleive they moved to Astoria, Queens, New York. Alexander and his wife divorced sometime in the mid-1960's.
If this sounds familiar to anyone please contact me. THANK YOU!

All these folks came from Poland late 1800's and entered the US through Chicago and Canada. They settled in the Ashley-Nashville area of Illinois.

Fred, I was given the Czajkowski spelling by my mother-in-law as her paternal grandmother's name. I haven't been able to find any online reference to her family, because the family members are relatively recent immigrants, by that I mean after 1900. Patty Guimont's website, Ancestor's Attic has a large file on the Czajkowski's that immigrated to Canada, then Wisconsin, and finally southern Illinois. That's where we found them in the 1900 and 1920 censuses. That's Washington County, namely, Ashley, Beaucoup, and Radom. Hope this helps. Wendy

My grandmother's name was Margaret Czajkowski (born 23 Aug 1905 Carbon Hill, Grundy County, IL; died 25 May 1971, Milwaukee, WI). Her family evidently adopted another name (Saiki) according to her birth certificate. Her brother, Joseph, had his name changed back to Czajkowski (I have the corrected birth certificate). Her parents were Felix and Margaret or Alexandra. Their wedding certificate give the names of Felix Czajkowski and Alexandra Kotowska (married 6 May 1901 in Chicago, IL at St. Adalbert Church).

I'm trying to locate other family members who might have information about Felix (born in Poland around 1875) and Margaret/Alexandra (born in Poland around 1883).

My e-mail address is pma14@icqmail.com

Thanks
