My Dabbs line's earliest known ancestor is as follows and I am posting Bible records here:
The following is from "South Carolina Bible Records" Edited by Dorothy Harris Phifer, Pickney District Chapter S.C. Genealogy Society
"The following 2 Dabbss Bibles are presently in possession of Mrs Essie Joiner Oswalt of Tuskegee, Al. Abstracts are taken from photocopies of the originals. The first Bible is that of Joseph of Union District South Carolina. Although her name doesn't appear in the Bible, Joseph married a woman name Susannah. Curiously in the marriage section the names of the spouses are not recorded.
The second Bible is that of Joseph's son, William Mc. Dabbs, born in Union District South Carolina. He moved to Blount county Al in 1870, then later returned to Union Co. South Carolina , where he was buried in 1908 at Mount JOy Baptist Church."

These Dabbs were in Union County S.C. Mary Dabbs, daughter of Susannah and Joseph, married William McKinney--In 1860 they are enumerated in Cherokee County Georgia--near James McKinney and other Dobbs families. They are reported to be related to her--one name of a nearby Dobbs is Cicero. I can't make a definate link. I do know that her son and daughter in law (who was the daughter of her brother William (see record above)) lived next door to a David Dobbs in Marietta, Ga in the late 1800's--need to pull out more notes. Would love to finally make some connections!
