Dace stories

I thought of another request. I don't have any stories about the Dace family. I'm interested in stories like Uncle Bob being in the outhouse when the local teenages tipped it over, or how during the big flood when the house was being washed away Momma wouldn't leave without her best frying pan. I want stories that give a life-like quality to all the names, dates and places. If anyone has stories to share I would appreciate it.
Thanks,
Jane Beyers

After Michael Dace died she married Solomon Horine and then William Hogan. The 1880 census shows her living, at the age of 90, with her son Solomon Horine in Crawford County, Missouri.
She died in 1886....I am looking for an obituary and place of burial.

John Dace Jr. 1810 Census Abbeville, So Carolina

I recently found this census 1 male under 10, 1 male 26-44, 1 female under 10, 1 female 16-25. He does not appear in the 1820 census. Could be that we have found the 4th Dace brother. In the letter from Laura Dace Woodward to my Great Grandfather, Michael Homer on his 100th birthday and in a subsequent call to her, she stated that there were 4 brothers (Michael, Harman/Harmon, Dennis and a John or Jake who died young, also a sister who married a man with sur name of Lewis) The time frame would be correct...say...if he were 26 he would have been born in 1784 and the others were born about 1790 to 1797. It could also give us the first name of their father, seeings as he was a Jr.

Dennis Dace Lewis

When all else fails, go for a long shot! I have an ancestor, Dennis Dace Lewis, born May 15, 1820 in Illinois, Wisconsin, or Kentucky. (every census lists a different birth place) He died April 1, 1905 in Richland, Pulaski, Missouri. He was married in 1844 in Coles County, Illinois to Elender Ervin.

I've recently been told his mother's name was Elizabeth ? born about 1803. In the 1824 she married James Hensly in Edgar County, IL and in 1834 Elizabeth Hensley married John Drake.

What I don't know is what Elizabeth's maiden name was and was she married to Dennis' father and with Dennis' middle name Dace, is there a Dace family Connection?

If anyone knows an answer, I would be most anxious to hear from you

Sherry Quade
His son, my great great grandfather, Francis Marion Lewis is also listed as born in IL and WI. There must be some kind of WI connection, just don't know what.

Thanks again.

Sherry

Dace family name.

Do not know origin of Dace name. To through some more sand into the works. My grandfathers brother spelled his last name Dace and ours was spelled Days. I also had some ancestors that spelled it both ways. One time spelling it Dace and the next Days. Have heard it spelled both ways. Also have been told it was originally spelled Dooce with a ** above one of the "o"s. This should add to the confusion.

Doing research on the 3 brothers. Would like background before their arrival in the states. Also anything you have that I may not have already. My ggggrandfather was Michael. Have some information on Herman from Marvin Summers book but not too much on the brother Dennis.

pbarilow@aol.com
