Surnames: Deasy/Dacey
My ggguncle James Deasy (Dacey)immigrated from Glandore, Cork, Ireland and arived in Boston, Mass in May of 1873. He moved down to Providence, RI between 1873-1875 when he married his childhood sweetheart Ellen Louise Flynn who immigrated here through NY in 1874. They had Catherine, Michael, Ellen, John, James, Joseph, Edward, and Francis. Ellen - Francis all died between 1-3 yrs of age, only Michael & Cathernie survived to adulthood and married.

James brother Patrick Deasy (great, great grandpa) immagrated from Rosscarbery, Cork, Ireland and arrived in Boston, Mass in Oct 1902 with his 2 youngest children Patrick & Timothy; Michael ,Ellen, Mary, John, were already here in Providence, RI. His daughter Margaret born in Rosscarbery 1869 & died in 1870 never made it over and its still a mystery as to what happened to his son James Deasy as the only documentation I have on him is a baptism certificate from St Fachtna's Church Rosscarbery, Cork, Ireland.

I also found information that 5 Deasy brothers immigrated from Cork, Ireland to Haverhill, Massachusetts so there are plenty of Deasy/Dacey's in the area. Who's related to whom though is the question!

James & Patrick are descended from Michael & Ellen(Donovan)Deasy and had 8 siblings back in Cork, Ireland. I've have documentation on 6, but can only fully trace 4 of them including James & Patrick. The last four Brendan, Nora, Ellen, and Joseph I have nothing on them except that James passed their exsistance down through the family and my cousin Michael J. Dacey told me.

I have found Michael's brother Peter Deasy who married Honora Dillon on 22 Nov 1849 in St Mary's Church, Leap , Cork, Ireland; they had 6 children; Mary, Honora, Margaret, Julia, Patrick and John. The address given for the couple on the marriage record is Cregg which is the origin place of my Deasy's and the same place Peter was living & renting land with his brother Michael Deasy on the 1851 Griffith's Valuation. Cregg I was told is a teeny, tiny village between Glandore and the prehistoric stone circle called Drombeg Circle which is why my family used Glandore as the geographical mark for the family's origin point. (it can be found on a map, while Cregg can not) Patrick & John I have traced to Haverhill, Mass the sister's I'm still working on so the RI Deasy's are related to the Haverhill, Mass Deasy's.
