My GGGrandfather, Charles Cone Deasy, was born around 1832 in County Cork. He named his first son James Edward. He and his wife, Bridget Dooley, came to US in 1849 where James was either born (on the waters or in New Jersey). They lived in outside Trenton for awhile before heading south.
His mother wrote him a letter in 1870 and in it she says "James is still working in pottery. He has bought more protery. He has bought a nice little house right next to his father and Hugh has bought next to James."
We have no idea what HER name was (My GGGgrandmother). Does any of this sound like any of your names?
Hope to hear from you soon.
Thanks!
Steve Deasy
Daniel Dacey & Mary Driscoll Dacey

I am looking for descendants of or descendants of brothers and sisters of Daniel Dacey from Kilbrittain, Cork, Ireland. He was married to Mary Driscoll and had 5 children: William (these are probable dates) b. 1828; Timothy b. 1834; John b. 1836; Catherine b. 1839; Hanora b. 1842. They came to USA in 1848 on the Ship Symetry. They were in New York city in 1850. Sometime in the latter 1850s-1860s, the children went to California and settled in and around San Francisco.. Daniel followed after Mary died. Daniel had a good friend, John McCarthy. It appears Daniel lived at 33 Cherry (1862), 656 Water St. (in 1868) and 368 Madison Place (1864),

Our family emigrated to Newport South Wales. My Uncle Edward Dacey, last of that name to survive died last week aged 96. He is survived by 4 sisters, Kitty, Hannah, Emily and Patricia. My Mum was Eileen the baby.
Hope we can connect?

I am sorry I just found this message. I hope this will reach you.
I don't have much on Vescovo. My ggrandfather, George Dacey married Rose Vescovo
in San Francisco, California Aug 17, 1885. The marriage license was found by a cousin
in the trunk of Florence Dacey, their daughter, after Florence's death. I recently found a 1910 census on their youngest daughter, Madelaine,
giving the place of birth of the mother>P.....something Eng. I cannot read it. Madelaine was in the St. Josephs Infant Orphan asylum. I am trying
to get hold of the records, to see if that will tell me anything. Also in the SF Call was a death for a Margaret Vescovo, but no other information. I have not
found where Rose died or when. I think her husband George died first and she may have remarried. All their children were put in orphanages, but not all at the same time.
Contact me at csommerville@uswest.net. I would love to keep in touch and exchange information.
Cathye

Re: Dacey in MA

My Daceys emigrated from Clonakilty, Co. Cork to Boston. According to family stories, they were in Boston at the time of the Great Boston Fire in 1872. I don't know what other Daceys in addition to my ggrandmother (a widow with children) came to Boston at this time. Do you have any information as to where yours lived in Boston? Often related immigrant families lived in proximity. I have some Boston addresses, and plan to do more census research this summer.
