I have Mederios and Costa relatives we think are from Ponta Garca, Sao Miguel. They immigrated to Hawaii around 1882-84, then to northern California. The names are Joseph Mederios/ Maria Costa Mederios (father Joaquim Costa, brother Manuel Rita Costa, sister Antoinette Rita)
