My mother who would be 86 if she were alive wrote down in her papers that someone from South Carolina was writing a book about Arter, not Arthur Dacus..My great grandmother was nicknamed little Ida from this Ida Chapman..they were pretty sure that this was the name. I don't know who the man was who wrote to my mother to ask for information, because my stepmother won't let me have the papers. My great great great grandfather was Thomas Anthony Dacus the son of Elizabeth Cogburn..I am pretty sure that she really is his mother..I am also sure from your account that we are kin.The census in 1850 lists Arter 34, Elizabeth 21 living in Pickens Co. S.C. Pascall, John, William, and James are from the first wife (she could be someone other than Ida) Arch N is the first I believe of Elizabeth's children. Thomas's wife Martha Matilda Chapman, was called Little Ida..she was born 1-21-1861..she is buried in Grice Texas..I have been to her grave..Thomas Anthony b 3-12-1860 is also buried at Grice d 10-17-1939. I believe that Arter married Elizabeth in 1848--Archibald Nathaniel born 1849-1928 buried in Grice, Texas..I can give you more information if you wish..later. Linda
