You may have located this information in the years since your post but although I am NOT an experienced Dacus researcher, I think I can state that there was a relationship, possibly father/son between Isham and Thomas Dacus.

"Newton County Georgia Estate Records, Vol. I, A-K, 182-1900" bu John O. Bruno, pages 79 and 80, contains an abstract of the 38 documents in the estate file of Thomas Dacus who died intestate in 1837. It appears the Thomas's heirs were his widow and 7 children. The only children that I can positively identify from the abstract are Paschal Dacus, Susan Ann Dacus and Milly Lyle. Paschal and Susan Anne were minors and there is record of appontment of guardians for them. Milly Lyle appears to be a married daughter. She received a distribution of $2201.46. Paschal's guardian received the same amount. The other person who received that amount was one John Phillips. My guess is that he was a son-in-law, receiving his wife's share. Milly and John both received their shares on April 28, 1840. John Phillips is my interest in this document as I have an ancestor John Phillips who with his wife Louisa moved from Newton Co GA to Fayette Co. GA in 1839 or 1840. I have never been able to document Louisa's maiden name and I wonder if she may have been a daughter of Thomas Dacus.

Isham H. Dacus was a purchaser at the estate sales on Nov. 15 and Dec. 5, 1837.

I will quote verbatim a sentence from the abstract that I think will interest you: "John S. Stanton in one of his Anual Returns as Guardian shows a payment to him in Marcho f1842 for $3.44 he spent on expenses to South Carolina in obtaining testimony in a case pending in Newton Superior Court AMY DUNN vs. P. REYNOLDS, Administrator of Delany Dacus and others 1/7 part."

That reference to 1/7 part is what leads me to believe that there were 7 heirs other than the widow, From these papers I only come up with Paschal, Susan Anne, Milly and whoever John Phiilips represented.

I think that if we could see a record of the lawsuit we might learn more.

Is Isham H. Dacus the one you are interested in? I don't know. Why is there no record of his being paid $2201.46? I don't know? Could he have taken his share in discounted purchase prices at the sales? I don't know? Or is he another Isham Dacus altogether?

I hope this is helpful. If you can shed light on the John Phillips relationship, I'd like to hear it.
