Good Day,
I have been searching for the manumission papers for Jacob Dade who was released by his MISTRESS' will 1835-1845. His "wife" and children were owned by The Edwards family of Orange and Stafford Cos. Joseph Edwards, never married, released Frances and her son Felix before his death and released all of his slaves through his will [Orange County Court House] 1855-1859. Several of Jacob's children migrated to Ohio. I am writing a book about the Dades of Circleville, Ohio and need this information to make the book as accurate as possible. Also, do you know where the Edwards' plantation records are and how I can see them. These records will help to connect Jacob and Frances, known as Franny, to the slave names on Edwards will. The Freedmen Bureau has one of Jacob's son, Joshua and his wife Jane Johnson, a free woman, legalize there union in 1866 and resided in Culpeper County. Thank you for any information you have about Jacob Dade.
