I am not related, but found some info for you. If you have it just hit delete.
If you notice on the 1900 Trimble census for Victor & Emma there is a ? Suddeth, age 77, born 8-1822, listed as Mother-in-law. This is actually Emma's Grandmother Ann Suddeth, whose daughter America Barnes is listed as Emma's mother. Did you notice that in the 1880 census that Emma's father,Willis Barnes, is listed with 2 wives, Sirilda Barnes & America Barnes .Maybe this is a mistake on the census takers part & maybe it might be his sister??

Sharon Karns
skarns3@cox.net

Emma Dafford married to Victor Adams in Trimble County Kentucky

I am looking for any information on Emma Dafford who was married to Victor Adams in Trimble County Kentucky. She was the mother of my grandfather Earl Adams, his brother Orton, and their sisters Ruby and Sophia. On a document from Sophia and Chalmer Eatons wedding info it list Sophia's mother as Emma Dafford. She was supposedly born 1876 in Indiana according to 1900 census. I believe that her and Victor seperated and divorced. After that the boys were put in an orphanage in Indianapolis and I dont know about the girls except that Sophia married Chalmer. Some speculate that the last name was either Suddeth or Barnes and I wonder if there was a typo and her last name was actually Daffron. Any help would be greatly appreciated !

Margarett (Cook) Dafford b. 1820 NC

Trying to locate husband of Margarett Cook Dafford. Have located family members in 1850-1880 census. They lived in the Chatham County area. Margarett Dafford is found in 1850 Census in Balwin, Chatham, NC. Sons John Harrison and Zachary Tayor Dafford used mother maiden name (Cook) starting in and after 1860 Census and lived with their Uncle Abram Cook. Believe Margarett Cook to be the daughter of John and Kesiah Cook.

Dafford name

Eric, I wrote a letter to one of the Dafford families in N.C. a few years ago. I received no response. I have been researching my husband's family and his grandmother was a Dafford. Her mother was Sarah Elizabeth Abbott. Sarah and Berry Dafford had two daughters. Mae Berry and Hallie, my husbands grandmother. Hallie told us that her father had been married before and had adult children when he married her mother. They were married in Georgia where we think Sarah was born. Berry died in Texas and the census of 1880 said he was born is S.C. To my knowledge, no one has been able to find out exactly where Berry was born. He was born in 1818 and died in 1885. Have you found any clues that might connect Berry to the Daffords you are researching? Hallie also said that she thought her father had fought for the North in the Civil War. I can't find any records of him fighting on either side. Any insights would be helpful. I have hit brick walls with both Sarah and Berry. Sarah was a Cherokee. She and a sister were raised by white people, never knew her birthdate or the place she was born. As I said, any insights would be helpful. You may contact me by e-mail. Thank you.
Laura Dafford, NC

My maternal grandfather was William Pickett, born 1847 in Chatham County NC. According to his death certificate his mother was Laura Dafford, born in NC (probably Chatham County).

Laura Dafford married John Pickett, the marriage bond signed 13 Sept 1840 In Orange Co., NC. The census records show them living in Chatham County, NC. Laura Dafford was born around 1824. A William Dafford is shown as head of the household in Chatham County census records, beginning in 1810. The census records also show that he had a female child, age 5-10, in the 1830 census, which fits the description of the age of Laura Dafford.

If anyone has more definitive information about Dafford family ties in Chatham County NC, I would appreciate hearing from you.
