WEST BRANCH, Iowa -- Dorothy Dahlgran, 87, Iowa City, formerly of West Branch, died Monday, Aug. 11, 2003, at the Mercy Hospital, Iowa City.

Mrs. Dahlgran was born on July 5, 1916, in Shooks, Minn., the daughter of Arthur and Annie Thomas Spears. She married Win Dahlgran on Sept. 5, 1942, in Bemidji, Minn.
She worked as a secretary for much of her life, including in the West Branch School System and at Meramec Junior College, St. Louis, Mo., from which she retired.
She was a member of West Branch United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women. She volunteered in numerous organizations including the Salvation Army Soup Kitchen in Iowa City.
Survivors include her husband, Win Dahlgran of Iowa City; two daughters, Randi Whitman and her husband, George, of Gallup, N.M., and Holly Searson and her husband, Jim, of West Branch; three grandchildren, Kristine Heykants of Minneapolis, Minn., Blaine Heykants of Coralville, and Julianne Sexton of West Branch; and a great-grandson, Kaleb Winfield Sexton of West Branch.
She was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister.
