Classification: Query
Surnames: Dahlgren, Bengston, Swenson, Henke, Murray, Hardy
I have been trying to trace my Dahlgren line back to Sweden. What I have is from the small amount of family history that was passed down and what I can piece together from census records. I can get back to the first family members to come America, but no further.
My gr gr grandparents were Lars Dahlgren and Caroline Bengston both born in Sweden. They had 6 children; Gus (abt 1867), Lars J (my gr grandfather, abt 1870), Emil (abt 1874), Alma (abt 1876, may have married a Hardy), Carl (abt 1879), and Oscar (abt 1885). Lars, Caroline, and the four youngest came to the US in 1890 on the Gallia which arrived in NY on July 11. It appears that Gus and Lars J came in advance but I don't have any information on how or when.
I have been trying to locate information on my gr grandfathers siblings and their descendents in hopes that it would lead me to more history.
Please let me know if this sounds like your Dahlgrens and if you have information about this family that you could share. I'd love to learn more and share what I have.
