I am trying to track down the descendents of my Grandfather's sister. She was Henrietta Shott ( at least I think so, we called her Aunt Et)
She was a widow, whose husband died in the military??
I think his name was William.

It is hard to track down her sons. They were reffered to as Babe and Bud Dahlman.... I know Babe fought in WWII and was a German POW.

Andrew may have been a brother or father to my great-grandfather Martin James Dahlman. He came to Grundy County in the mid to late 1800's and married Anna Spieker. They had my grandmother Martha in 1880 and a daughter Anna in 1882. During this birth my great-grandmother died. Martin later remarried, left Iowa and eventually died in British Columbia in the 1940's.

Wisconsin Dahlman Family

What I know for sure: Johann Heinrich was born about 1788 in Elberfield, Germany. I believe he was the son of Johann Heinrich and Anna Gerdruth Ludwig although unproven at this point. He married Joanna Niewerth. They had five children: Heinrich Joseph born about 1818; Henry born about 1827; John born about 1829; Franz Anton (Anthony) born 1835; and Mary (Maria) Christina born 1823. All of them came to America together, landing in New York July 2, 1842. They ended up in Racine County, Wisconsin – primarily in Burlington. In the 1846 census of Burlington, it shows John H Dallman having a household of 6 males and 2 females. Mary had married Lewis Theule be then and they lived right next door. Shortly after Lewis Theule died, Mary married Johann Theodor Henningfeld. When he died, she moved to Milwaukee to live with her brother Anthony (Franz) until her death in 1860. Mary Christina was my 3rd great grandmother. I have found articles on Anthony and his brother John as they were prominent businessmen in Milwaukee.

I have found several trees and other records on Ancestry linking the above to a Dahlmann family which includes Abraham Emil, Augustus, Otto, Jacob, Helena, etc. However, most of this family seems to be located around Philadelphia. I can find NO Mormon records or other records on any of them! Since this Dahlmann family was not of the Catholic faith (and the above family were very strict Roman Catholics) I don’t believe they are related.

Can someone please help me figure this out? I am in rapidly failing health and it is my dream to finish my family tree as soon as possible. Please accompany any data by sources or record references - thanks!

Unfortunatly the last time I saw him was at his veiwing, I was a kid then. Your husband Robert, I believe, would be my first couisin.

Back in the old days I only remember Uncle Gilbert's kids as Johnny and Diane and also cousin Skipper (Gilbert), it was very long ago and I believe Uncle Gilbert remarried and I may not have it all right.

I think the last time I spoke to uncle Bill, he was sick and getting an operation, probably a couple of years ago. I truly hope he is ok.

My mom is Ethel Rainone (Jerry) she passed away some time ago. I miss her very much!!! She is Gilbert and Bill's sister.

Thank you for finding me, please e-mail me and keep in touch.

My other e-mail is lilmargo@comcast.net.

Margie Dailey

Or are you adaughter of Bill Spruhde? I've lost track long ago of the names of the children of the above, all of which are my cousins.Your Grandfather is my uncle, brother of my Mother. I well remember Chippendale St.in the Mayfair section of Philadelphia. Write me direct and we'll talk! "Dahlman" is the maiden name of my Grandmother which I assume would be your Great Grandmother. Write me direct and we'll talk. "Cookie" Winterbottom

hello I just started my family tree. My mother just passed in April. and I am trying to find our roots! Her mothers name was Ruth and I am not sure how it was spelled. Ruth was married to an Ihde. I am having a difficult time as they never spoke of the family that much. I do no know if the IHDE she married name was EARL or if that was a middle name. That is all I remember. I know that my mother did not talk highly of her father, and I assume he left her because my mother and her sisters did not finish school because they had to support their mother...how was a bad diabetic.
