Hi Kim
I have tried to reach you by mail, but I have failed. Do you have an E-mail address? I would feel much more comfortable to discuss our family relations on a direct link between our mailboxes instead of publishing it on Internet.

I am swedish, living just outside Stockholm. My and my wife Ingrid´s interest in the Dahlquist family in Washington US, started when we started examining what had happened to five relatives to my wife who emigrated to US about 140 years ago.

My wifes grandfather had an aunt Maria Olivia Oman. She and her family lived on the isle Gotland in the Baltic sea. Olivia and her 8 siblings lived on a farm named RUMS in the village Grotlingbo. About 2 miles away Andrew Dahlquist lived with his father, mother and siblings on the farm DAHLS. Olivia and Andrew met, fell in love and decided to leave Sweden for America.

The farm Rums, where Olivia was born, is today owned by my wifeand her brother.

Andrew and Olivia Dahlquist emigrated from Sweden 1867 and settled in California for a couple of years and then moved to Washington.

I have found out that Olivia and Andrew first settled in Freeport Cowlitz Washington and then in Ostrander Cowlitz Washington. They got three children, Charles born 1882, Florence Hulda born 1877 and Mary born 1873. Mary died early.

Charles married Anna Leona Stock and got five children, Edward or Edwin born 1907, Ralph born 1909, Erma born 1911, Truman born 1915 and Dorothy born 1921. I think you know what happened to this part of the family.

Florence married Cris Christensen (born in Denmark) and they got two sons, Harold A born 1902 and Walter born 1904.
Harold married Ester born 1896, and they got six children Harold A born 1922, Howard T born 1924, Walter E born 1927, the twins Louise and Lucille born 1928 and finally Carl.
Florence´s son Walter, what happened to him? I don´t know!

I have some further information about the Dahlquist family, which I will send you soon. What´s your address?

You can contact me by e-mail carl-olof.lind@hotmail.com or carlolof.lind@gmail.com

Bye from

Carl
My father is Charles Truman Dahlquist. My mother is Patricis Irene Carlson 9/7/1039. I have 2 siblings from Charles, Michael Jeffrey 5/10/1957 and Jeffrey Mark 8/10/1058. My birthday is 4/25/1956...today in fact. I believe that David, Judith and I've never heard of Laurie, but will inquire are 1/2 brother and sister's to Charles (9/1/1937). My mother ran into their mother last week at a Garden party in Kelso, Wa. Her name is Phylis Belenski. Charles Truman Dahlquist's mother passed several years ago, my grandmother. Her first name was Lucille, I don't know her maiden name, but will find out. I would love to know what you know about my heritage and ancestory. Thankyou for getting back to me so soon. I would like to know where you are. Are you from the US or out of the country. I'm only asking because of your name on the posts. They're not familiar to me. Kim Richards

Truman Dahlquist was my grandfather. He married my Gramma Lucy and they had Charles Dalquist, he is my father. He and my mother divorced when I was 2 yrs old and I was adopted by my mother's second husband. I have been in contact with my birth father, Charles Dahlquist for several years now. He is battling lung cancer and is living in Franklin Ga....My mother wanted to name me Anna Leona for my Great Grandmother but was discouraged by her mother to do so. I hope this shines some light on any questions you have. I can contact Charles Dahlquist and get more answers if you wish. I went to the Pleasant Hill cemetary a few years ago with my father and there is a wealth of history there. So....I'm Swedish huh? Always wondered. Kim Richards

I am sorry to say I am not in your Dahlquist line, but I thought you would be interested in a series of books written by Vilhelm Moberg called The Emigrants. The Emigrants (1951), Unto a Good Land (1954), The Settlers (1961), The Last Letter Home (1961). It is the story of the Swedish emmigrant experience of Karl Oskar Nilsson and his wife Kristina. They settle in Chisago, MN. Moberg was a most celebrated Swedish historian and author who lived many years in the U.S. This is a wonderful series and I thought, since much of the action takes place in Chisago, you might be interested. Good luck in finding you relatives. My Dahlquist family members came one by one between 1907 and 1912, with my own grandmother coming to the U.S. in 1910.

I think he died in 1949, but i´m not quite sure of that.

Do you belong to this family? Are you a relative to "my" Truman, born 1916.
My husband is related to Andrew Dahlquist from Cedar Bayou Texas. His daughter Minnie E Dahlquist of whom I have a picture was married to Harmon Christian Smith. I have a wonderful newspaper article about him with his picture. I would love to have more information. You can reach me at smikl@friendlycity.net. I was so excited to see your post. Karen

Hello, I may be able to help you with information relative to Helen Dahlquist. She gave up her daughter for adoption and oddly enough years later married William Yokie and raised her sister's son as theirs. That son was my father. In essence I knew her as my grandmother and lived next door to her for years.

DAHLQUIST LINE FROM CHISAGO COUNTY MN

Isak and Liza Anderson and four or five of their children immigrated from Sweden to Chisago County Minnesota from about 1876 to the mid 1880's.. Sometime after arrival the children changed their surnames from Anderson to Dahlquist. The parents retained the Anderson surname. The children were: Frank, Carl August, John Magnus, Gustav
and Emma Dahlquist. A daughter Alice Ingred Anderson immigrated later and became a citizen in 1898, but never changed her surname. She met and married a Charles Anton Jensen in Freeborn County MN. and they had one son, Carl. Charles moved his family to Fort Collins, CO about 1918. All but one of the Dahlquist children married and lived, to our knowledge, in the Chisago County area. The one exception, .... Emma, married and lived in Tacoma.

We are seeking contact with the living decendants of the five Dahlquist children.... If you have any information please reply to this message. Thank you, Phyllis Jensen Goldsberry

I am anxious to find this family as I have a letter written by Lillian Elizabeth DAHLQUIST after she had separated from her husband and moved to St. Charles, Ill. in 1928 with her young daughter. The daughter would have been 100 years old this year, so am really looking for the grandchildren who would be interested in their GrGrandmother. She tells a sad story of how she had to support herself and her daughter and of how much she still loved her husband. The husband's family still live around my area. Hoping to hear from someone so this letter can get in the proper hands.
Mary Jane<><
