If you are still looking for Dr. Gustave (note spelling) Dahms of the St. Louis area, a daughter died in the Albany, NY area in 2009 -- Patricia H. Shepherd. Obituary mentioning her parents is available on-line. Her mother was a nurse; I have seen the name spelled as Celina and Selina. You can find names and cities of other descendants in the obituary.

I became interested in Dr. Dahms as he did illustrations for some scientific studies of wasp behavior and at least once his observations were published as part of a larger publication.

Oh, by the way. About 2 years ago, I was in contact with Howard's commanding officer, Lt. Gilbert E. Lindloff. He has since passed on, but he did provide me several pictures of the tank crew members under his command. Attached to this reply is what is believed to be the last, if not the last picture of some of the men KIA on 10/18/44. I do not know what Howard looked like, but I have labeled many of the other crew men in the picture including Otto Hesselbarth, and George Lopes. Perhaps you'd be able to find Howard?

My grandfather Charles Erazmus, was a crew member in the same tank as Howard. On October 18th, just before the tank left, my grandfather was asked to stay behind and another man went in his place. I have access to several first-hand accounts of what happened that day if anybody is interested in a more extensive story. I'd be interested in knowing more about Howard. I have several pictures of the men of the 710th tank battalion. I'd like to know which one is Howard. If anybody in the family has any WWII pictures, letters home, etc. the they are willing to share I'd be more than happy to take a look. I'm one of several family members, historians, etc trying to put together a very detailed history of the 710th Tank Battalion.

I'm not sure if these are the same Dahms', but my great grandfathers name was Gustav Dahms. I know he came from Germany in the late 1800's with his brother. Gustav bought a farm in Charlotteville, New York which his son, Ralph Dahms later took over. Let me know.
Thanks,
Lisa
PS
This is the first time I've used this site and hopefully I'll find my ancestors.

My ancestor is Otto Dahms, born 12/28/1873 in Germany, who I believe is a brother to Frederick. He is buried with Frederick in Pottstown Cemetery. Also buried in the same plot are their parents, Gottlieb Dahms b. 9/18/1840, d. 10/5/1927, and Augusta H. (Zimmerman) Dahms, b. 11/11/1840, d. 4/2/1913. I was just at the grave the other day. Hope this info helps!
Jerri

I am researching a Christian Frederick Dahms, 1820, from Prussia who married(1837) a Miss Clinger (1824)and had several children. I am missing the names of two children (possibly Fredrica?).
Most of their children have come to the U.S, including August, my ancestor. I also found a marriage in 1858 in Kentucky for a Christian Dahms, 1820 Prussia, and a Mrs. Minnie Dahms. They had 4 more children. I am thinking perhaps Christian remarried? Can anyone help me make this connection? I can e-mail privately with names of offspring if you think there is a connection.
