Classification: Death
Surnames: Dahnke, Dedert
Beatrice Wilma Dahnke, aged 90, went to her eternal rest on August 2, 2006 at the Christian Rest Home. She was preceded in death by her brothers and sisters-in-law, Herman and Alice Dedert and Marvin and Alice Dedert, as well as her only nephew and niece, Bob and Peggy Dedert. Surviving are her daughter and son-in-law, Ronald and Patricia Meeuwsen of Grand Rapids; her grandchildren, Kendall and Joyce Meeuwsen of Carlisle, Massachusetts, Jeff Meeuwsen and Tricia Meeuwsen, both of Grand Rapids; and her special dear friend, Jim Boonstra. Beatrice was a lifelong member of Broadway/Westview CRC where she served as a librarian for forty years. She also worked for TerVeen Builders for forty years where she took on the dual role of being the bookkeeper for the fledgling Christian Rest Home, as her boss was on the board as the rest home began. As time went by and the rest home grew, she became the fulltime office manager and kept TerVeen's books part-time. She remained the office manager for thirty five years and could never say enough about what a first class home it was. Her opinion of it never wavered as she first spent ten years in the independent-living section, and then the last ten months in the nursing section, where she rounded out another milestone with her ninetieth birthday. Her family feels the same and would like to thank the nurses for their tender, loving care, especially during her final days, as well as the people from Hospice who visited her. She reposes at Heritage Life Story Funeral Home - Van't Hof Chapel, 851 Leonard NW, where relatives and friends are invited to meet with her family on Thursday evening from 7 to 9 PM and on Friday from 10:30 AM until 11 AM when her funeral service will be held with her pastor, Rev. Roger Groenboom, officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to either the Christian Rest Home or Hospice of Michigan are appreciated.
