thanks for the info Chris. In this particular case I'm mainly looking at the Morin line and so for individuals marrying into it I usually stop at the parents of the "incoming" spouse regarding their ancestry. However, any additional info that I collect I usually keep somewhere becasue it happens more often than you'd think that I end up discovering other family links later on.

hi Linda,
I came across your posting today while doing some researching on a cousin line of mine which apparently links up with the brother of the Julie Daigle you bring up in your posting. I am hoping that youmight have some informatin for me regarding possible descendants as I currently have none.

I am looking for possible children for:

Joseph Daigle, b. Nov 6, 1891 in Dunrae, MB to "Celenie Colere" per record #1891-1709075 with Manitoba Vital Statistics (I have his parents listed as Damase Daigle & Selina/Celina/Selenie Calaire)

and
Antoinette (Anna) Morin, b. Jan 16, 1898 in St-Boniface, MB to "Josephine Hogue" per record #1898-007572 with Manitoba Vital Statistics (I have her parents listed as Adelard Morin & Josephine Hogue.)

Per Manitoba records (#1925-030334, the couple married in St-Malo, MB (RM deSalaberry on the record) on July 25, 1925.

I know much more about her Morin family line as this is the line that I am from, she being first cousin to my great-grand-mother. Her family lived in St-Malo, MB.

Also of potential interest to you:
While searchng for a date of birth confirmation for Joseph Daigle, I also came across the birth record for a brother who most probably went by the name Alphonse. "Alphonse Joseph Hponore (Honore) Daigle", b. March 12, 1896, in RM of Lorne (I believe that is inthe Dunrae, MB area)to "Celenie Colese" per record #1896-004780 with Manitoba Vital Statistics.

Any help with descendants would be apprecited.
Thanks

Angelique Daigle - Jean Baptiste Klebaur

I am the GGGrandson of Jean Baptiste KLEBAUR (naturalized as John B. KLEBAUR) who was married to Angelique DAIGLE by Rev. S. Goodenough of The First Universalist Society of Derby, VT on Dec. 26, 1862.

The last that the family knew of Jean Baptiste was that he was a gunsmith in St. Hyacinthe, Quebec, had a family and disappeared sometime in 1853. His wife, Madeline Schmeltz Klebaur and children returned to her family in New York City. Please see narrative and records at www.klebaur.org. They had both seperately immigrated from Alsace to NYC earlier, circa 1835. JBK was born in Colmar in 1808, served in the French Army, discharged as a seargent.

We were surprised to find this information of his second marriage, as we knew of no divorce or annulment of his first. Here are the Derby Clerk's minutes of the wedding:

State of Vermont Orleans County: Be it remembered that at Derby in the county as aforesaid on the twenty sixth day of December in the Year of Our Lord 1862 John B. Klebaur of Brompton Falls in the County of Richmond & Province of Canada East & Angelique Daigle of Sherbrooke in the County of Sherbrooke, Province of Canada East were duly joined in Marriage by S. Goodenough, Pastor of the First Universalist Society in Derby, VT.

Attest Jos Bates 2- Town Clerk

I cannot locate Jean Baptiste in any Canada database or death records, he seems to have disappeared from all Canadian records after the birth of his last child in St Hyacinthe in 1852.

Kevin Patrick Flood, Jacksonville, Florida kpflood@klebaur.org

Georges Daigle was born in Vienna, Austria in 1620. His spouse was Marie Chauvin as you noted. He lived and died in Austria. His name was sometimes spelled D'Aigle. The thread I was following said he was the first Daigle of record. Hope that helps.

Good morning, Ken The database is updated every month when I am healthy. The line you were researching, however, is up to date and goes all the way back to the original daigle. I guess I should have put the web site in with my last message. I am sorry about that. I always make the assumption that everyone knows about the database. Good luck with your research.

Go to the Daigle website and download the database. It has the entire family of Mary Louise Daigle (born 12/22/1873; baptized 12/25/1873, St. Ephrem, Upton, Bagot, PQ). Daughter of Esther Dufresne and Michel Daigle. The parents of Joseph Maxfield (there are several spellings of the last name) are in the notes). The Daigle ancestry goes back to the original Daigle. If you don't want to go the website, I can send it via e-mail. Take care, Don Daigle

Actually, I just did a little more poking around and it looks like her parents were Michel Daigle and Esther Bouin dit Dufresne. It's been my experience that the hardest link to find is your grandparent's parents. Later than that and you can just talk to people in your family. Earlier than that and there are so many descendents that the chances of finding hints and help are much greater.

This is the second time in two days that I've broken out my information. Maybe I'll get back into it.

I do have her death on Jul 4, 1958 in Leominster. I've just never been able to find her parents. I have a fair amount of information on her husband Joseph Antoine Maxfield (mostly from his family), but nothing on her side. I haven't done any genealogical searching for a while now, but if I find anything on your grandmother, I'll let you know. I'll have to double check, but I'm pretty sure I have a family photo with her in it.
The Daigles of Madawaska

I am a descendant of Olivier Daigle1643-1686,my first known Acadian ancestor from Poitou, France to arrive in Nova Scotia. His sons were major players in the foundation of Madawaska and lived in the times of the well known 1775 expulsion by the English ( which separated families )to unknown places for their refusal to sign a treaty to fight against their own people
(the French) should the situation arise. This is a simplification of all that occurred and the book that gave me a wealth of information about my family, did not overly dwell on these times ,but rather gave a rich history of the begginings of the Madawaskan Territory. My ancestors, and perhaps yours are listed and given praise for starting and developing this new area, which is located in both the Province of New Brunswick and the State of Maine. It was a wonderful genealogical reference book for me and was recommended by the Madawaskan Historical Society. The book is an English translation of L'Histoire du Madawaska, by Father Thomas Albert. There is now a second edition.I am not suggesting that anyone buy this book , but merely wanted to share with you how helpful (lucky)and interesting it was for me to find a source that helped me along in learning more about my relatives from so long ago.,how they lived and how they contributed .I already knew my line of Daigle ancestry well and I invite you to share my tree and my Daigles from Olivier, Bernard, joseph, Joseph Simon, ,JeanBaptiste, Jean Baptiste Jr.,Michel, and finally my great grand father Thomas, my grandather, Levi Joseph, and my father Robert Joseph Daigle. It is in my Brandle Best Best tree (weird name , but I think it has the most on the Daigles. if i find out they are under a different tree, I will make another post. Hope this might be of help to someone. Nancy Daigle Brandle Feel free to e-mail me at
nbrandle@comcast.net

Hi my name is Rowan Bard I am 18 years old......it appears that we may be family members somewhere down the tree, I have been searching for what kind of native American I am or could be, we have a picture of my great great grandmother Anastasie Pelletier (I have come to her name as a process of elimination because all it says on the back of the picture is Demase Bard, whom it seems was her spouse.) hanging in our upstairs hallway and there is no doubting she is native american unfortunately there has been no way to prove it or to find what tribe she belongs too, I saw your posting on two different websites so I figured I would contact you and see if maybe you know more then me or if we could help eachother. My family has been saying for years that all they could come up with was when she was married she was immediately baptized and her name was changed. However on several ancestry type websites they seem to have hand written records of her birth. I'm not really sure how to further explore our family, any ideas?
Thank you
-rowan

Thank you for your post. I have the names you listed and am told there are large First Nation families in Canada named Fortier, Cote and Boucher. What I am trying to find out is if any of these families that my Daigle ancestors married are in fact of these First Nation families and from what Nation...Blackfoot, Huron, Abenaki ect. If anyone has this info that would be great !!

Thanks,
Darryl

In the Daigle database a majority of the records come from Catholic records dating back to the late 1600's. As far as the Indian questions, I don't have any data except for my own private genealogy.

No! I looked into that too. If you read the Church Marriage entry it says he is from Frankfort and the French word is there for Germany.

In the 1905 Census, Peter is listed as living with Raphael [Ralph] and Julia. Relationships are not given in this census but he was probably a son.
Raphael was married to Julia Michaud. That info is from records of some of their children. On Raphael's death record, his Father is given as Raymond but his Mother is not listed. By birth year and location, he was probably the son of Raymond Daigle and Eleonore Martin married 11 Nov 1845 St Luce, Frenchville, Maine.

Chris

Hello Laura,
I was logging in to ancestry.com before a recent trip to Ireland and saw your post. Mamie Stoskopf was my grandmother, married to my grandfather, Peter H. Daigle. Their son Raphael Daigle was my father. He grew up in Port Angeles and Seattle with his three sisters, Frances, Cecille, and Agnes. Only Agnes is still alive. I know Mom and Dad talked of his ancestors in Maine. Dad saw his grandmother only twice. She lived in Minnesota, and she spoke only French.
Jeannine Daigle Moore,
Seattle Washington
