I don't have info on Alexis Daigneault, but I think I have a connection to Onesime Jette.
My paternal gr-grandfather was Nelson (Dubois) Wood. His son's marriage certificate (1909) indicates that Nelson was born in Canada. He later came to Lowell,MA, then to Sutton,MA. I'm still searching for more info on him and his parentage.
Nelson Dubois's marriage certificate lists him as Narcisse Quentin. I have always translated Nelson to "Arsene" in French. BUT,English speaking town clerks often changed names according to phonetics. I know that Quintin is a "dit" name for Dubois.
Narcisse married Henriette Breault on 20 Jan 1890 in Iberville,PQ (St. Alexandre). The church record lists Narcisse as the widower of Onesime Jette, from the same parish. No info was available through the "presbytere" re: Onsime.
I have had little luck finding Onesime Jette's place and date of death; nor can I find the name of her children. The son from whom I'm descended (Joseph [Dubois] Wood) was born 6 September 1865. Unfortunately, I have birth certifcates for him(same date/same parents)from Lowell,West Boylston, and Sutton,MA. I had a distant cousin (now deceased) who swore that Joseph was born in Canada and that the "fake" birth certificates were a ruse to keep him in the US.
I wonder (?): Is Narcisse really Nelson ? Or have I gotten caught in the similar name game ? AND, is it possible that Joseph (Dubois) Wood is the son of Narcisse/Nelson/Arsene Quintin Dubois and Onesime Jette ?
A birth certificate for Joseph from Canada, or a death certificate for Onesime Jette would perhaps help me refocus my research.
Any help you might offer would be great.Thanks.firstname.lastname@example.org
